NIce tutorial. I liked the simplicity of the tutorial for beginners. But, if I am not mistaken you forgot to generate "Drill files". /805 you used is a THT device.

hello! love the video very helpful! im wondering if you can help me with an issue when i try to put the extrude in to the middle of the part i type the #length/2 as you do but it doesnt work? it says enter a valid expression? im a complete noob to onshape and this would save me alot of time in the future. thanks!
@Zipties_and_Ducttape20 күн бұрын
Thanks @ceejaybarrow6775, make sure there are no spaces in your expression and that you have defined the length before you try to use it. Other than that I can’t tell you much without seeing it directly.

A few key suggestions 1. Make power traces (all of them in this case) as wide as possible 2. Place your LDO as close to the board edge as possible to allow for mounting of a thermal connection 3. Make paths as short as reasonable, for example the output to the terminal should go straight, not via the capacitor
@Zipties_and_Ducttape20 күн бұрын
Those are actually good suggestions @SojournerDidimus, thanks. If I male another Video about Kicad I will incorporate them. In this Video I mainly tried to show how to make a simple board, even if it isn’t very nice, but a few things I could have shown.

This is more like an Evelyn Woodhead speed tutorial. You have a lot of good information, but if a person can't keep up then you've, for the most part, wasted your time creating the video. Don't give up your day job. Just saying.

Hello. Can you tell me how to choose an arbitrary orientation for my track in kicad, for me it is always at an angle of 45 degrees and I want it to be at an angle of 90 degrees, is it possible to do something so that I can change the angle of the track over time? work, for example, like in Sprint Layout when you press the space bar?
@Zipties_and_Ducttape3 ай бұрын
I am not sure if I show this in the Vid, if not, sorry. You can‘t chose an arbitrary angle, only 45 and 90 degrees, but you can set points your track goes along by clicking. Kicad will always choose the shortest path between the starting or last point, and if that is a straight line with a 90 degree ang, it will do that.
@maxichannel90803 ай бұрын
@@Zipties_and_Ducttape Hello, I read the documentation about KiCad and it turns out that to change the angle you need to click on slash or counter plus slash

Brother, how to choose a appropriate footprint to a symbol...?
@Zipties_and_Ducttape4 ай бұрын
I might have not made that clear in my Video, sorry for that. Depending on the components you have or are planning on using you can search for the right footprint. If you don’t yet know which exact components you are going to use , you can just do a quick google search for an appropriate component

This is a good start but you;ve missed an essential part of the process and one that usually stops new users. The electrical rules check is so important for creating PCBs. It prevents basic errors. I hope you make more videos on this topic as you have a good, clear voice and deliver the information well. Great job!

Looks good but if you printed it upside down, you can have the texture of the bed on the faceplate instead of the smoothing done by the nozzle, to make it look a little bit better. 😊

Have you actually tried to print this? I really don't think it will work - IMO that 'bridge' is going to be impossible to print, even if Cura will make a slice for it... but you don't actually need it to go all the way through, just make little cone shaped bits either side.
@Zipties_and_Ducttape8 ай бұрын
If have printed a very similar model with different dimensions, but yes depending on the bridging capability you might have to reduce the bridge length. I know about the pin hinge. If you think that is a problem you can either use a different hinge design or make multiple short bridges.

There are a lot of ways to make a hinge. A easy way I show in this vid: kzbin.info/www/bejne/sGKXdHijlKyhapY, or just search on youtube :)
