Hi, I have made BGR’s for 40 years. Your presentation is fine, but you leave out the very important startup circuit. The ptat generator has two stable states, the one that give the correct current. And the other that gives a current of zero. Please include a startup circuit that forces the circuit into the correct state.

Hello sir As derivative of. CTAT voltage is varying across temperature, so for scaling PTAT what value of CTAT derivative we should take for calculation such that the scaling is valid for all temperature range. Can u please guide Thanks

@ First of all, the principle is that you add a CTAT voltage from the vbe of the bjt to a scaled PTAT voltage. The temperature coefficient of the CTAT voltage is about -2mV/degree C. When you simulate it, you can see value in your process. The PTAT current is made using a PTAT voltage drop over a resistor. This resistor is normally a high resistivity polysilicon resistor. When you make the Bandgap voltage you source the ptat current through poly silicon resistor in series with a diode connected bjt, to ground. The voltage drop over the bjt will be roughly 650mV. You have to scale the size of the series poly silicon resistor so that the sum gives approximately 1.25 volt at room temperature. The means a voltage drop over the resistor of (1.25 - 0.65 = 0.60 volt). Make a DC analysis in SPICE and you will see the bandgap voltage as a parabolic voltage, it should be with its max voltage at room temperature. For matching use unit resistors that you place in the same direction. Use more than minimum width of the resistors. Use the same unit size and width as in the PTAT generator. Happy New Year.

I have some doubts related to analysis . Firstly in the formula of fT its Cgs and not Cgg but here we have taken Cgg Secondly , I performed the exact same steps as in the video but still my max fT was around 40GHz but in this video its around 25-26GHz

For finding Vthn and Vthp, you used the Iref=50u, for NMOS and PMOS diode connected circuit, but for NMOS and PMOS it is Iref/2=25u. Why you used total Iref current for finding Vthn and Vthp, after for finding (W/L) you used the correct 25u but substituted the Vthn and Vthp derived from the total Iref value. Why it is like that?

Hello sir I got good understanding about BGR.. One question I have to ask will I replace BJT with p or n type MOSFET?? If yes then what will be the size??
@guhanrajasekar5993
@guhanrajasekar5993 4 ай бұрын
I will help you with what I know. We are using BJT in the first place because we want to imitate diode characteristics. In a diode, we will have exponential relationship between voltage and current( Id = Is*exp(Vd/Vt) ). This is seen in a BJT as well ( Ic = Is* exp(Vbe/Vt)). But a MOSFET has a linear relationship with voltage in linear region and a quadratic relationship with voltage in saturation region. So we do not use MOSFETs in place of BJTs.

sir, I have a module that I have created with the help of Mosfet but now I want to plot the resistance of my entire module from the input port but here I am using the sp parameter method to get this plot while using the sp parameter i am applying pulse input as my module resistance changes with the number of pulses applied to it so I want to plot the real-time resistance of my module as it changes with time as it is a function of the number of pulses applied so with sp parameter I am unable to get this plot can you suggest any method where I could plot this
