Thanka for share bro juat one little detail..why sont don't used black silicone under the first piece to seal justbin case water. As u know we cannot play games with water. ..thats all sorry if my comment is not 100 porcent acepted.

Hi! Yes you can seal the 2 section together. The manufacturer has moved to a single unit which we find a lot better. Thanks for the question.

if both roof where the same pitch, would you still have done an open valley like that? I’ve never done an open valley, I think it looks old but everything else is clean it shows that you know what your doing

why do folks continue to nail in flashing on the roof...just so water and can then leak in another hole SMH...also where the flashing meets the stucco that is where all your water is going to go eventually. drip right down the wall and make all the flashing obsolete

I don't know how many of these drains you install, but why not cut a few pieces of 1/2 copper pipe or conduit to use as sleeves to cover the bolts while you're applying the cap sheet? Then you can pull the sleeve off and the bolt will be clean.

Great job. What is the reason for the stones that I’ve sometime seen on flat rubber roofs?
@schoenroofing19 күн бұрын
The ballast (stones) are to keep the rubber down. It can be installed this way or fully adhered (glued) to a board. Thanks for the question!

@ I have a flat roof that I will be doing a repair on this weekend. First timer and I’m not sure if it’s EPDM or not. I’ll figure it out… I am in upstate NY. Should I consider doing the ballast on my roof?
@schoenroofing19 күн бұрын
@ if it currently has ballast you want to put it back when the repair is done. If it doesn’t have ballast it should be glued down and there would be no need. You also need a parapet for ballast or eventually the rocks will blow to the gutters. Hope this helps.
@garrettb987919 күн бұрын
@@schoenroofing It does not currently, so I'll leave it after the repair, but There is a parapet around all of the roof areas with scuppers.

Why the counter flashing if it’s getting siding? Why bury the tins under the counter flashing so you can’t get to them when you have to do the roof someday.

Why don't you have to seal or try to seal the two bottom screw holes that you put right through the shingles and the roof?
@schoenroofing21 күн бұрын
These screws have a neoprene gasket that keeps water out. We find they hold a lot better than nails and caulking.

Hi, my roof is about 10 years old and I found a piece of foam near my house that says, "end cap do not discard see instructions for proper use" I assume it's from the end of one of the ridge vents. Does this have to replaced right away? Do birds pick at the foam to get in the attic? Thanks for any information.

would you ever do a ridge vent on a low slope like this? I am considering a ridge vent for my new build with a pitch similar to this
@schoenroofing2 ай бұрын
That really depends on weather conditions in your area. Maximum ventilator maxes a great flat/low slop vent that is bullet proof. I would be concerned with wind driven rain/snow.

Is it more ideal to add a cant strip instead of going up a 90deg? Also how come you use those short strips for the flashing instead of a long strip?
@schoenroofing2 ай бұрын
The only time I have ever used can’t strip is with hot tar roofing. No need with 2 ply modified. 3 ft flashings are easy to work with and make cutting different sizes easy as it’s the width of the roll. I will use larger on curbs or areas that are just bigger than a normal flashing to avoid having a small second piece. Thanks for the questions!

My roof repairer used it as valley (water drainage) filler for my roof. He told me that it is better than cement and pointing, it lasts longer with waterproof and weatherproof. Is it true?
@schoenroofing2 ай бұрын
I’m not sure I understand. Can you explain further?
@jarinorvanto43012 ай бұрын
Some professionals argue that the construction should be made such that it's safe from water infiltration even without caulk; through appropriate overlap and overhang of flashings and other materials.
@schoenroofing2 ай бұрын
That is why we angel our riglet cut. Caulking is always a good idea in areas that are hard to waterproof. Corners and angle changes especially.
