Thank you for this video. Since I already have Dewalt batteries I was going to upgrade my no-name Blower to Dewalt. But I need an easily removable tube. This kind of design oversight pisses me off.

So i have a customer with an 06 4runner v8, transfer case ran dry due to leaky actuator and then started grinding and skipping. Customer purchased new toyota transfer case and new toyota actuator. Old t case and actuator is already out of the car in one piece. How do i install the new one? Do i just bolt up the new t case and pop the new actuator on like you did? Or do i need to tear into the t case like many other people suggest?
@jakemir
@jakemir 6 күн бұрын
I would recommend buying the Aisin brand actuator with the shafts already installed and do it the correct way by installing it while the transfer case is removed. This video is just a shortcut so you do not have to remove the transfer case but it definitely is not the correct way to do this job. The best way to do it is by removing the transfer case. since you already have the transfer case out, it will be a much easier job

We have the same generator and it has been reliable for over 3 years now after several power outages. Recently had propane company come out and run a separate line from our 500 gallon tank to front of house near the enclosed porch with a shutoff. Now we only need to drag the heavy thing out the door a few feet to use it as we store it inside in winter.

You do not need to use the choke when starting with propane or natgas. Choking is used to work with liquid fuels that are hard to vaporize in a cold engine. It will start just fine without choke when on propane or natgas.

Hi Jacob, I must congratulate you on actually testing the genset powering the actual house. Virtually all the folks on these KZbin channels do not. They will plug in an electric heater… bla, bla bla. I learned to test under real load from a telephone company Central Office Manager in California where they cut the main weekly and run the entire building from generator for an hour a week. Now, the telephone switch has a massive battery bank ‘float’ so service is not disrupted. Just 3 out of 4 lights not on the emergency circuit would pop off for 10 seconds. All the PC’s had a UPS. He said, how will you ever know it will work without live testing it under an actual full load? It sounds so obvious once it is said. Another tip was test early in the week so you have time to obtain parts or service. Anyway, for my lock out panel, I pre mark what breakers I will shut off with red dot stickers. Yellow dot breakers are optional. I purchased a super rugged gas flex that has a braided metal outer shell I will guess the O.D. As nearly 2”. It was meant to be for a patio flame installation. Best to you. Thanks for the video. Jim from Chicago

Thanks very much for sharing your exploits/frustrations with this "nightmare"! I have an '03 V8/AWD so have this exact actuator on mine ... and my CDL just started acting up and 4Lo hasn't worked for years! From watching you It seems that upon receiving the new unit it might be a good idea to mark the shafts with a magic marker when they are fully extended from actuator and again when they are fully retracted into actuator so that if/when you have to take it apart as you did you will at least know how to position the shafts to help when clocking. Also, when installing the actuator I think I would leave the bolts about a half turn loose after seated all the way to let the rods self center the first few times you actuate them, just my thoughts. Probably want to start the engine and maybe move F/R while trying CDL. Again, thanks a lot, glad you were VICTORIOUS!
@jakemir
@jakemir 24 күн бұрын
I created a 4Runner playlist and made several videos where I remove and reinstall the actuator. The most difficult part is getting the small O-rings on the shafts to seal properly.. I would not recommend disassembling the actuator itself because clocking it perfectly is difficult. If you actuator has never been opened, it will not require clocking. The biggest failure on these actuators is the motor. Also stay away from the Chinese versions that are sold on Amazon because the gears are too weak. Good luck and let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks for posting this. I have an '03 V8/AWD and 4Lo has never worked since I've had it (about 7 years) but CDL did until just recently. I put it on the other day and it wouldn't go , then it wouldn't turn off until I put in reverse and backed up a bit and braked hard. Haven't tried it since.

Be sure the front and rear weep holes are clear that allow water to drain. Every vehicle with a sun roof has weep holes. The glass can be adjusted higher from the bolts on the inside. Open the sun roof in a heated garage and pour water on the sides to verify it is draining properly

I won a police auction in Grand Rapids. When I went to pick up the truck, the guy who opened the gate somehow knew the engine was blown and seized. He said the only ones that make it to auction are probably not worth buying. I quickly realized that they jack the tow/storage fees up to unobtainable levels to deter people from buying anything at all. 90% of the auctions the reserve is not met. What a scam.

I tried doing it through the last location you showed and I had transmission fluid constantly coming out even when I clamped the line, elevated it and put the funnel in the fluid kept rising up the funnel therefore I was unable to do it. (I was trying to add a transmission conditioner because I am experiencing a little slippage here and there at 230k miles) and the transmission fill both it seized up and is starting to strip the bolt so I am unable to get it off. 2004 4.7L V8 limited for reference

Was the vehicle running? I do not know how the transmission fluid would be under pressure with the vehicle off. The second location is higher than the transmission so it should not flow back. It could be air locked and not allow the fluid to flow in but it should not push any fluid out

Thanks a lot for the video, it helped me diagnose a no crank situation! In my case, after numerous no cranks, it did crank when bypassing ... And somehow started as if nothing happened after reconnecting the EWS! After lots of spelunking, it turns out to work properly, the EWS need fuse 5, 6 and 24 (in the foot panel) to work properly. I don't know what the hell is going on in the electrical system for that to make sense, and I had only checked fuse 24 beforehand. After testing the two other, lo and behold, fuse 5 was blown. I have no idea since when, as there was no other symptom, though the car was in storage beforehand and apparently that fuse can blow if the battery gets very low (which is for now the most credible explanation). 🤞it was just that, I'll be carrying 5amp and 30amp fuses at all time from now on.

That means the motor is bad. There are two internal motors; one for center diff lock and one for 4Lo. If your center diff lock works I would leave everything alone. 4Lo is rarely used, but center diff lock makes the the four wheels work together and the V8 is always in 4Hi anyway.

If you just pushed the rod in a bit so that the gear would line up properly with where it needs to be clocked… would that have worked? Like initially, when you first put the Aisin replacement on, you said you couldn’t get the gear clocked the right way. You had to put it a little more towards 1 o’clock than you wanted to. So… if you pushed the rid in just a bit to get the worm gear to line up with the cogs on the clocked gear, would you have saved yourself a lot of trouble?
