What a gorgeous piece! I got the sheet and have added it to my list of "things to work on after Grade 3 class" (ends mid August)!!

Merci. I have Faber volume 1 and Alfred Volume 2. But I prefer John Thompson as well as La Mèthode Rose in British and French. It’s actually too advanced to be for beginners, and it’s certainly not for children.

I have just discovered your channel. Your videos have exceptional content and exceptional production (camera angles, editing, etc), congratulations! A question on pedalling - both my method book and my tutor have told me that one lifts the pedal (just for a moment) immediately _after_ the hand comes down to play a new note/chord. Rather than lifting the pedal _as_ the hand comes down, and then pressing it down half a beat later, as per this video. Is one technique a precursor to another? Thank you, and thanks for the care you obviously take with your fantastic videos.

You can double-click the tempo text until your hand falls off. When you try to type the text (for example, "ballad"), it adds notes.

Thanks so much for your calm and knowledgeable way of teaching us new beginners. It seems like most of us are in our sixties. I'm 66yrs and am so keen to learn to play piano for worship songs. If you have some easy ones to share. It would be much appreciated. I'm grateful for this video. Hope and Pray 🙏 for more knowledge to share for us beginner's. Blessings to all but mostly for you, the music teacher. God bless

When do you anticipate having the Faber Adult Piano book 2 content up on your website? Thanks!
@PianoRoadmap2 күн бұрын
By the end of this week (June 8), I'll have up to page 27 in Book 2 available. This is about 5 weeks' worth of content if you think about it in the private piano lesson format (about 30 minutes of video lessons per week).

Any tips for practicing polyrhythms? I'm trying to learn a piece which has a fastish (but not super-fast) 4 over 3 polyrhythm spanning 2 bars... I can kinda play it slowly, but I struggle to bring it to tempo

Have you heard of "Pass the Gol-den Butter"? This is a saying that works with 4 against 3. I may be oversimplifying it depending on how long you've been working on this, but after weeks of practice at a slower tempo, try to go just a *little* bit faster, and soon, something will click and you'll be able to feel it at a faster tempo. And it will be MUCH EASIER once you can go fast (you don't have to think as hard 😅).

@@PianoRoadmap I started with "pass the stinking butter" but after a while I switched to the metronome, since I need relative coherency when playing quavers (nearby), triplets and semiquavers... One tick per triplet eighth note is good with slower tempo but becomes overwhelming when approaching the target tempo, I'll try to switch to one tick per crotchet or similar

Where I am learning, they ask us to use finger 2 of left hand for B. But you are telling to use finger 1. So its becoming a bit tricky😅

So helpful! I’ll be on vacation in Europe for a few weeks, but I plan to start learning this when I get back. Something to look forward to. Your tutorial pointed out things that I probably wouldn’t have figured out on my own, like which notes in a measure to emphasize in the B section. Coming from a voice and violin background, finding the melody in some piano pieces is a lot more challenging. Thank you!

I'm trying to play Mephisto with small hands and can't comfortably reach further than an octave. I can't get 7 seconds in once the chords are spread out an entire three octaves. I need a third hand! The song is hard enough on its own!! Something came over me where now I feel I have to learn it, even with being an extremely below average "pianist"... Not giving up yet!!!! But tip No. 5 does help a lot to hear out loud. It won't be the end of the world and there are thousands of other masterpieces out there that are just as beautiful, minus the extra strain :) thank you! Currently feel doomed rn lol
