The Bible is clear on the murder thing. One of the ten commandments says do not murder. But in the Bible it also says to take up arms against evil. Someone breaking into your home is the devils temptation to that said person. In the Bible David kills Goliath. But David did not go to hell. David is one of God's best soldiers. So therefore no disrespect but the video is awful

kinda happened the same way around 2007 when my deconversion started. Reading the Bible all the way through made me an atheist. I had a fundamentalist Apologist friend send me the book "I Do Not Have Enough Faith to be an Atheist" by Norm Geisler and Frank Turek. However at that point, the book was just circular arguments and was laughable.

This video is wrong on every level. We are not called to stand by and watch bad things happen to good people, or innocent people. Jesus said to the disciples SELL YOUR CLOAK AND BUY A SWOARD. Jesus also told the one to put it away after cutting the ear off because that was not a JUST MOMENT to do that act. There are times to act in self defense and times not to. God gives us wisdom to know when the right time is.

Scantly recorded in 18c. and stigmatized by Johnson as "a low cant word." Older senses are preserved in phrase to make fun of (1737) and funny money "counterfeit bills" (1938, though this use of the word may be more for the sake of the rhyme). See also funny. Fun and games "mirthful carryings-on" is from 1906. also from 1727 fun (v.) 1680s, "to cheat;" 1833 "to make fun, jest, joke," from fun (n.). Your father failed you. There is so much ignorance in your critique. It’s truly sad. You cite blood sacrifice and question the need of Jesus on the cross, clearly you haven’t read Hebrews. Questioning is fine so long as you’re genuinely interested in finding answers. You can study apologetics and textual criticism- the Bible is the word of God and yes, you should follow the New Testament literally. You speak so flippantly about the Bible, it’s not just one book. It’s 66 books written over 1400 yrs by inspired men and eyewitnesses. It’s amazing and incredible to read through. It’s the greatest location of ancient text and history the world has. Living in sin and realizing if you die you’ll go to Hell is scary. So is being a criminal and realizing that when you get caught you’ll go to prison. Doesn’t make it any less true. You’ve chosen to reject God as many do. Cain knew God was 100% real and spoke directly to him and still he chose to murder his brother. That’s free will. Satan also refuses to bow - refusing to be submissive to God isn’t a lack of faith, even demons believe. I pray you’ll repent before it’s too late.

>"Well, it started when I wanted to 'have fun'" You converted to the state religion, you did not "de-convert" at all. This is literally a video detailing your conversion story, and it can be summed up as "why doesn't God conform to 21st century humanism", "why didn't God lobotomise mankind so we can't sin", "how can God be real if I don't like Him" and "how can the bible be true if I reject every explanation I was given for it". Perhaps your judgement is already written and you have hardened your heart to stone, I hope not. There is no truth without ultimate truth, despite knowing of ultimate truth you reject that truth. Your ultimate goal was to find an excuse to not feel shame for sin and evildoing. Rather than cling to the mercy of Christ the redeemer, you thought embracing sin would save you from sin. I guess it's a very common human instinct, but that doesn't make it right. The price of sin is death, and the only currency that can be traded spiritually is blood. This is less so something everyone has just "agreed on", and is first and foremost an apparent truth. This is the way things are, the reasons why none but the creator can ultimately say. Only blood can pay for spiritual things, and Christ's death is what paid the price for all the world's sin. But because He was without sin, He is risen from the dead, and has defeated death through death. There is no greater love than that, to show mercy to a creation which does nothing but hate you. Love cannot be forced, that's slavery or obedience, or perhaps more accurately brainwashing and mind control. For someone to love someone or something they must do it of their own will. For those which reject this love, the redeeming sacrifice is meaningless. They will pass into eternal judgement on the final day, along with the devil and all of his kin and disciples. It's easy to think of hell as an eternal party, a gathering of the worst refuse of mankind all continually celebrating the worst excesses of creation. This is a lie people tell themselves to sleep at night. Eternal heat, eternal fire tearing at flesh and bone, unceasing agony for all eternity. A punishment fit for the devil and his kin yes, but something God would wish everyone to avoid. That's the entire point of Christ's redeeming sacrifice. But still, mankind hates Him who died for them. What can then be done? Cosmic justice must be delivered, the unrighteous cannot avoid a just punishment unless imputed righteousness is given. How can imputed righteousness be given to a man who hates even the one who died for his sake? Fearing hell so much you run into hell to avoid God, might legitimately be the most tragic thing I have ever heard. God help you, God have mercy on you, God bless you.

Yet this god you speak of literally threatens hell if you don't believe in him. It's the equivalent of someone holding a gun to my head demanding I either love them or they'll pull the trigger. Can relate 100%. I also had a pastor for a father (my father was a Southern Baptist pastor when I was young, we had our own little church etc, that changed but we always stayed active in the church). I like how you describe it, my wife was a Mormon from Utah and we both went through the same process where one day in our car we were talking about God (not something we were talking much about at that point) and I was like "Ohh yeah, I guess I'm an atheist", my wife agreed for herself too. As you described it was a slow transition. I also experienced that same peace once you realize you can drop the baggage. I also think the most surprising thing is a stronger moral core IMHO. Now i want to be good and do good things because I CHOSE to, not because some God told me to (and depending on your specific beliefs under threat of hell). In hindsight the idea that a Christian can claim moral superiority when they do good things primarily because God told them to vs owning their own choices and desires and sacrifices. Also never feel bad about calling yourself an atheist... people miss the most obvious literal definition a = not theist = believer in a god or gods So if you're NOT a theist you are (whether you think or not) an atheist by definition. It says nothing about anything else including whether you are open to or not open to things etc or what you believe about knowledge, etc. I also understand how you feel about reading the Bible now. It feels so obviously and transparently the same as every other ancient religion. I now find it very fascinating from that perspective though, trying to understand what the authors of the parts of the Bible believed and why and what the historical context was etc (watching people like Kipp Davis, Joshua Bowen, Dan McClellan, and various others).

@@Theology_Matters the complexity of what is right and wrong is not always clear or agreed upon by everyone. Which is really just a convenient way for them to claim their own version of good and evil is given by the creator of the universe so obviously it rules above any other standard. And then people, probably yourself included, thinks without God, there is no standard. This simply isn't true. I might not have all the answers, and I won't pretend to either. However, I do know when something negatively affects someone else or causes pain and suffering. If you seriously cannot determine this level of right and wrong without a god to tell you, then I wouldn't want to be anywhere near you.

@@TheRebelsAdvocate But you're begging the question. By what standard is suffering objectively wrong?

This video awoke a really old memory of mine. I went to Sunday school only twice, but I was made to sit in the hallway the 2nd time around because I was thinking too logically. They told some biblical story about a blind man and claimed blind people could not feed themselves since they could not see, and they'd hit their heads with the spoon if they tried. I said that didn't make any sense to my friend because of this and that, and it was like he had a huge realization over that. The adults did not like how I poked a hole in their precious fairy tale book so I was made to sit outside and wait.

Only a child would think of it as a sick joke. The lesson in all of this is that obedience to God's word keeps you in eden. Disobedience gets you kicked out. Don't blame God for man's disobedience, little boys.

It's hilarious that you would call others a child when you're the one who believes in fairy tales.

Are you 12? 😂😂😂 You have to be a kid. No way an adult is this immature. Btw, it's fun to sing about fairy tales. I even read them to my daughter. Sometimes we celebrate days inspired by fairy tales and have a lot of fun doing so. But even my 7yo is smart enough to realize they're not true because I didn't brainwash her the same way I was brainwashed. I've never told her God wasn't real either. I just let her hear the stories and she pretty much figured it out. 🤷‍♂️
