Lol i once blew wheel bearing on my car and I didn't have any grease so I went into the nearby taqueria and I got some Manteca and I greased it up with pig fat and drove it home... I didn't re grease it for a couple months and sold the car that way still working...lol smelled like carnitas when brakes got hot. Lol

My dad did this on a '40 Ford on the side of the road. He would pull his race car Corvette with the Ford and a spare engine in the trunk. Spun a rod bearing and used a piece of his belt to get it home.

Are there any hit and miss engines you would recommend, that parts are easy to find? I have always wanted one of these but truly don't know what I would use it for. I just enjoy my old Gravely walk behind tractor collection, as I have used those little tractors in my garden and around our small farm for 20 years.
@tylerthon221429 күн бұрын
@curtrn there are a lot of makes. If you want a cheap engine they are not technically hit miss but they look similar, some of these makes include cushman engines, lb la internationals. You can buy those for around 300 running. Now some other options that are a little more expensive are witte, economy, Hercules. I would advise you hop on Facebook and get connected with hit miss engine collectors group. Also you can buy corn grinders, water pumps, corn shellers, line shafts that you can belt your engines to. I sometimes pump water with my engines. Ill put a video up at some point showing that

Me and my brother took that in 1976 to see the U-505 in Chicago. The car ferry was inexpensive back then. We took my 75 Chevy Nova then but I have a 2015 Toyota Corolla now. I don't want to take the trip because it's not only expensive now, but my car is a stick shift and I wouldn't take the chance of a worker trying to drive it on board that doesn't know how to drive it.

$380 for 1 SUV and 3 people?! That seems like an eye-popping amount of money for a 4 hour ferry ride. Is that at least Round Trip? Can you take a round trip as a foot passenger (no vehicle) just for the boat ride?
@leeannthon85544 ай бұрын
It was $315 one way before taxes and fees, including fare protection since we were traveling far from home. You don’t have to take your vehicle, you book a ticket separate for yourself and your vehicle. We did it for the experience more than anything. It also avoided the hassle of driving through Chicago and the opportunity to move around while traveling which is a lot nicer than being cooped up on the road!
@tylerthon22144 ай бұрын
Yes you can. You do not have to have a vehical to ride the ferry. Yes 380 is alot.
@jamesnelson69804 ай бұрын
Yes, you can ride as a walk on passenger.
@CheeseheadMedia4 ай бұрын
You can do a round trip as just a passenger for about $110. Also realize that Manitowoc to Luddington is about the middle of Lake Michigan. It is a 7 hour drive not including Chicago traffic if you go around the bottom and an 8 hour 30 minute drive if you go across the top of the lake between these two cities. That is a lot of driving that is being eliminated plus you get to rest as well. So it may well be worth the cost for some people.

You can go round trip as just a passenger. Get a Stateroom. There is a special fare.
