I picked up one of these recently and it's my first "proper" drum machine. I know it's generally hated on, but I'm only on day two here but it feels ok. Yeah some bits are a bit janky but the build quality is excellent and i keep hearing about these mods, or in this case a no solder mod! Thanks for the upload and sharing the knowledge 🤗

@@Domingo95x ah, I'm embracing it's shortcomings and think it's not gonna be my main drum machine, it's just my first. It's a "unique" sounds and I like the distortion element, I'm ok with adding further channels of drums from other devices to this, I just like the hardware aspect of it, and it's built like a tank!! (Edit: it was also a no returns eBay purchase 😂 but I'm good and not sad at all)

All of the akai animals require tasteful balancing of the individual volume knobs per part, the master volume output, and the howl. On the RW I almost always maximize the kick and back everything off (often waaaaay off) from there.

Hi - I tend to double it up the 'kick drum' with the 'percussion' sound. This gives the kick a transient attack, and helps it cut through the mix 🤓

@@b5004a to use a tongue and an nose why not. As we do with a touch screen. I thought about the connection by midi. I would like to connect a foot pedal but didn’t found a solution yet.

@@imaxim in the case of RW, since it does not receive CC, it would be hard to keep changing tones without using many fingers. i will eventually post a video of RW and guitar pedals.the RW signal is much louder than the guitar level, so I'm having trouble getting it to sound better as it is.
