Onions dont always work, better off just getting some onion sets. Cabbage and celery can work but takes just as long....just plant seeds it's more productive.

Was it the bottom of the core ? I am interested in how you did this . What zone are you in ?
@rookiegardeningjournal26 күн бұрын
It was! I took the bottom of the core and sat it in water for a month or so? Basically, until it started forming roots. Then I transferred to soil. But you can also just place it in the soil without growing the roots in water first. The same thing will happen. I am in zone 8 A 🙂.

I just feel and look at the top layer. Most time you would stick your finger in the soil and you tell. If there is some moisture, just a lil watering. Also the plants could tell you, droopy leaves gives an indication also. This is just my way of watering, I'm sure there are plenty of ideas or methods.

I lost my whole summer garden because of this vey reason. I started gardening with with grandchildren starting off in July. I then planted more plants in August and had for personal reasons had to leave the garden unattended for about 3 weeks. I did a lot of research but it was to late. I have started my fall garden and I have taken spacing serious this time around. Blessings on your decision whether to separate them or not. I have been so busy that I have uploaded any videos to my channel yet.

Hello, I too am a beginner gardener and just for the first time transplanted cabbages, after watching your video I checked my cabbages again and I had already noticed that the bottom leaves were a discolored and figured it was do to me not planting them right away and them laying directly on the soil, the rest of your cabbages as well as mine, look beautiful. After a few errands I am going to trim away the yellow ones.
@rookiegardeningjournalАй бұрын
I am sure they will be fine and I am glad the other ones are doing good. The leaves on all of mine were turning yellow so I had to take them off. Hopefully that is part of the growing process. They are like my babies at this point and I want to keep them alive! Thank you for reaching out 🙏
