They said it’s best to put spinach seeds in the freezer for a few months before planting before planting. They call it cold stratification. It’s supposed to help with germination.

Oh wow!😱 I would’ve never guessed of putting seeds in freezer first. I will look into that. Hey, thank you so much for this advice!

Spinach is hard to germinate I’m trying it now too. We can learn together

Yes! Yes! Yes! I am trying to build a community of gardeners who are new to this journey so we can learn and grow with one another. I am changing out the soil this weekend and starting over. Oh well!😩

I think you should consider the spacing and how cabbages grow. Look at some pictures to see if you've given enough room to allow them to grow properly

Thank you so much for the advice! I was literally thinking about that today. I have two of them that are growing on top of each other! 😩 oh boy!

@rookiegardeningjournal Oh yes, absolutely! Fall is my favorite gardening season.🤗 I am in my 4th year, but just never got into creating videos until I entered the #collardsandcabbage2024 challenge recently, so I'm considering adding more content now.😊 Peace & Blessings✌🏽

How funny! I’m growing a bunch in storage totes and clear shoe boxes as well! They make great planters. I like to flip the lid upside down and use it as a drip tray.
@rookiegardeningjournal3 ай бұрын
Yes, that’s a great idea to use the lid as drip tray! Thank you for your comment 😊

@tracysrhythmiclife3 ай бұрын
GM, yes we have planted also. I planted earlier and it was still too hot and had to start over cause they died out. But the new plants are doing great! I’m still planted other vegetables like Swiss chard and broccoli plants.
@rookiegardeningjournal3 ай бұрын
@@tracysrhythmiclife GM! Don’t you hate starting over? Ugh, but I realize that it is a learning curve for me and also part of the journey, so it’s ok to start over! I have to start my lettuce and spinach bed over, so I will be doing that this weekend. I want to be able to grow them from seeds instead of buying the transplants, so we will see! 😂 I am loving every minute of this. Thank you for your comment 🙏

@@rookiegardeningjournal starting from seeds is why I had to start over for some. I see the struggle with starting from seeds. My beets is still struggling also my carrots. But gonna wait and see.
