Great video i don't care if it was a little long. Just replaced the distributor. I could tell someone had the distributor out at some point due to some RTV so i checked the timing before i took the old one out and it was way advanced. I got it back in spec now.

I am guessing this is a Nissan Sentra (US) or Pulsar (AUS). I had exactly the same issue, my needle gauge used to go past the middle section on the display when the car was under load (AC ON), and suddently when I turned the AC OFF the gauge will inmediately drop back down. When this happened I quicky checked the engine and everything was ok, so no overheating detected. (I did this by simply feeling the engine - DO NOT OPEN THE RADIATOR CAP WHEN THE CAR HAS REACHED NORMAL WORKING TEMPERATURE as it can burn you for life). I changed the temp sensor on my Pulsar and fixed the issue.

I’ve just replaced the rocker cover gasket on my 1998 Pulsar. The kit didn’t include the little gasket that fits over the oil duct, so halfway into my test drive the car started belching out masses of blue smoke. When I calmed down sufficiently to start thinking straight again (at first I thought I’d done some damage to the engine), I realised the small rectangular opening in the top of the cylinder head midway along the front is actually where oil is pumped to the rocker assembly, and the baffle inside the top of the cover is to distribute said oil where it is needed. Without that gasket the engine oil was being squirted all over the place inside the assembly, which is why it was burning oil. As I didn’t have a gasket to fit, I made one up from a piece of thick floor vinyl, sat it over the opening in the cylinder head and very carefully placed the rocker cover over the top. Problem solved, and just to be sure I took the oil filler cap off while the engine was idling and could see the rear camshaft having a decent coat of oil. Thanks for sharing the video, hope this bit of advice helps others.

Thanks for making the video. I'm no car mechanic so this is all new to me. I'm dealing with a "rattily" converter myself and trying to decided what I should do about it. Your video has given me an option. Again - thanks!

I put in a new temp sensor because the fix finder scanner said it was bad, but after putting in the new one my truck had a hard time starting, then it just didn’t start, and when I put in the old one it started just fine.

doesn't the distributer have an offset key which have to line up no matter how much you spin the rotor? so even you put in a brand new distributor isn't it supposed to line up with the keyway on the cam shaft?

Thanks for the video Travis. Do you think the trans mount on an automatic 87 Stanza GXE is basically at the same spot? Few years ago had a shop replace all the engine mounts due to a clunking sound and movement which got a bit better but don't think they changed any trans mount so think that is the problem. Did you have to pull the battery to get to it or just can see it from below? So tired of the clunking when I put it in drive and reverse that I'm scared it might crack my automatic trans case. I have new KYB struts on it and it still is wish washy when I'm say doing 40 and move the steering wheel back and forth. Think it's because the trans mount has slop in it causing the front end to move aroud.

Hey Travis, I drive a manual B14 too and recently i changed to new engine mount (all 4). Since then, when i put into reverse gear and near the bite point, the car vibrate/ shake strongly. Any suggestion on what happen?
@BrunsBwlr2 жыл бұрын
This may be one of those cases where you got a defective new mount. Grab a buddy and have them watch the engine as you replicate the condition you stated. Sometimes you'll be able to pinpoint visually this way. I would also say make sure all of your bolts are tight. Just a note, I no longer have my sentra, but I've done mounts in my new car. I've had to replace all the mounts at least 5 times in a years time because the aftermarket mounts that are available are garbage. I wish this was an exaggeration. Keep me posted

Couldnt believe a brand new mount would be a defected one already :( at first i thought sth wrong with the tranny as the new mount would magnify the effect. Let me check if i should get a new mount. Since you are an expert, i wish to ask you another question! My GA15 valve cover is leaking oil at the last spark plug tube (the one furthest away from the distributor). I found another b14 which doesnt have this issue and swapped the valve cover but then the leaking is even more serious. Do u have any idea whats going on? Is it i should change brand new valve cover ring? Thanks a lot in advance.
@BrunsBwlr2 жыл бұрын
Oil leaking into your spark plug tube means that you're spark plug tube seals need to be changed. I would change the valve cover gasket as well. Now the thing about these valve covers is, if yours is plastic, the tube seals are not replaceable. There are videos of people doing it but it involves grinding things out. Now if you have a metal valve cover, those tube seals are replaceable.
@ecxeric2 жыл бұрын
@@BrunsBwlr Yea mine is plastic and i saw people who grind the bottom plate too. Ok let me think about whether to change a new valve cover.
