Sir, it appears the gSSURGO Soil data is only for USA soils. I used global soil data from FAO and could not find HSG on the attribute table. Any help?
@hydrologyvideos8253Ай бұрын
there is a global HSG dataset available. check this link: cmr.earthdata.nasa.gov/search/concepts/C2216864285-ORNL_CLOUD.html

Hello dear trainer, I would like to know how to bring out the performance coefficient (Nash...) in HECRAS?
@hydrologyvideos8253Ай бұрын
You can compute NS if you have two time series. if you know the observed elevations at cross-sections, you can compute NS separately, but not in HEC-RAS. if you are trying to assess the accuracy of inundation extent, then you need to use spatial indices such as C or F index. You can google and find more about these.

Thanks for the video; it is very illustrated. In the context of flow data, (i) are these ne m3/s? (ii) For PF1, PF2, and PF3, how can I define these values? Are these geographic positions? (iii) Once I get the flow information for tributaries and main reach a, I suppose we can use data from HEC HMS for maximum precipitation to model flood scenarios for different return periods. Thanks in advance for the answer.
@hydrologyvideos8253Ай бұрын
flow values are provided at upstream boundary condition for each each. you can get these from HEC-HMS or stream gauging stations.

I can develop 1D model but my issue is I have a 30m DEM which is not sufficient for developing river geometry. How can I use this DEM to infer innundation by over topping at various cross sections?
@hydrologyvideos82533 ай бұрын
You need better DEM. Look for papers (search for Merwade) from my group where we have developed methods and tools for creating river geometry where there is no data.

This a very good example when yu have a very high resolution DEM. Please do make a video on situations where you have coarse DEM resolution such as DEM 30m form SRTM.

Sir i want to know why 0.5, 0.25 for Muskingum k and Muskingum x?
@hydrologyvideos82535 ай бұрын
These are just starting values. No specific reason. Based on your results, you can change these values to match observations or if you have historical discharge data, there are ways to estimate K and X. You can look up online on how to estimate K and X.

I am new to HEC RAS Hydraulic Modeling. I have created my geometry using the ras mapper, saved it and opened in the geometry editor. However, one thing I noticed is the the Cross Section Coordinates table have an extra column with n-value header. I think it is not supposed to be there. Its present makes it difficult to set Manning's n for the LOB Channel and ROB. How did this extra column appear there and how can I remove it? many thanks for anyone helping me Sylvester
@hydrologyvideos82535 ай бұрын
cross-sections will have n values for LOB and ROB. You should not remove them.

Hi there, I have a question. Where did you get the discharge data for your simulation ? Did you estimated it using the SCS-CN method or is it through a observation or trials of test in the specified area?
@hydrologyvideos82535 ай бұрын
Discharge is the output from the simulation. I also have observed data from a gauging station at the outlet. The CN values used in the model were obtained using soil and land use data. There are videos showing how to do that on the channel.
