How do i import a file for velocity profile? Static case, not transient

You can use (.prof) file to import your spatially varying field (such as velocity). You can import you file as File > Read > Profile The format of the file you can find in Ansys help. Do let me know if you can't find that

Very useful, but there is a problem. How the geometry is transferred from SpaceCaim to Fluent Meshing is not clear. After creating the geometry in SpaceClaim, I am stuck. Can you help.
@WaqasLearnTech
@WaqasLearnTech 2 ай бұрын
For geometry transfer from SpaceClaim to meshing you don't need to do anything Just close the SpaceClaim and open the Meshing module from project schematic. The geometry will automatically transfer from SpaceClaim to meshing. PS: It is not true if you are using SpaceClaim as stand alone
@RamamohanRV
@RamamohanRV 2 ай бұрын
@@WaqasLearnTech It still does not work. When I open the meshing module by right clicking and click 'edit', it shows me errors. I am using 2024 R1 student edition. In the workbench at the beginning, there are three options to begin the exercise, like Fluid Flow (CFX), Fluid Flow (fluent with fluent mesh) and Fluid Flow (fluent). I chose the second one.
@WaqasLearnTech
@WaqasLearnTech 2 ай бұрын
@@RamamohanRVFirst option is for CFX. I am not using it The 2nd and 3rd options both use fluent for simulation but 2nd options uses Fluent environment for meshing. The third option uses Ansys meshing module. This tutorial is for third option Fluid flow (fluent). Try with that. When you will close SpaceClaim you would see a "green tick" on the the right side of geometry tab. It indicates that this tab is updated and you can open the next tab. In second option Fluid flow (fluent with meshing), the geometry doesn't transfer automatically to next. You have to import the geometry after opening the meshing tab. You can see that in this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/ravaeJR4mN2grMU However, I didn't show how you can use parametric analysis using 2nd option. Maybe I'll do in my next video

how to create a .ttab file? you are saying in the video "change the extension to .ttab file", what does that exactly means? I cannot save .txt file as .ttab file, also there is no converter programms to do that. Also I cannot transform my excel data to .ttab file I have tried everything, could you please help me sir?
@WaqasLearnTech
@WaqasLearnTech 5 ай бұрын
To convert to .ttab file you don't need any converter. you can do it as follows: Open file explorer go to "view" tab. in "show/hide" group of view tab, check "File name extensions" Now you would be able to see the extensions of all file. Create simple text file e.g my_file.txt. This ".txt" extension will be shown automatically as you have checked the "File name extensions" Now you can simple change the file extension from ".txt" to ".ttab" Hopefully it will be clear now.

@@ndarualfian1539 no you don't need to assign time profile. Time would progress as per your time step settings (calculation tab). Your time step is not required to match the time profile. Fluent will interpolate if time step doesn't match with time profile.

Hello! thank you for sharing. I want to create 3 distinct zones similat to this one in the link kzbin.info/www/bejne/nJPEh5Kho9-todU . Do I need to create multiple bodies/Parts to do this? my goal is create a box like fluid background domain with 3 distinct zones having tetrahedral mesh at the middle and hex mesh at the two end. but with conformity
@WaqasLearnTech
@WaqasLearnTech 5 ай бұрын
Yes, you will have to create multiple bodies/Parts. It will be easier in 2D to generate the mesh as in this example. Your workflow could be like this Don't use share-topolgy, instead use imprint for (17:00 onward in the video) For the side zones where you want to have hexa mesh, define same number of division on the opposite sides of the body. Central part you can use insert ==> method ==> tetra mesh For 3D you use multizone method o´for the side parts to generate the hexa mesh. In both case don't use share topology
@mmnyako
@mmnyako 5 ай бұрын
@@WaqasLearnTech my research is in 3D unfortunately, therefore it has to be a 3d domain. I already try to use the share topology with 3 distinct bodies, and its seem fine, two hexa is created on the sides and tetra in the middle by applying tetra mesh method on the middle body. why did you suggest not to use share topology?
@WaqasLearnTech
@WaqasLearnTech 5 ай бұрын
Actually when you add boundary layers, hexa mesh get converted in tetra mesh in case of share topology. If there are no boundary layers you can proceed as you have already got hexa and tetra mesh as per your requirement. I would suggest you to use fluent meshing if you have boundary layers. In fluent meshing you can use share topology

Hello! Sorry to bother once more. I created a non conformal mesh. Do I have to create mesh interface where two non conformal mesh meet? I notice fluent create mesh interface automatically when I load the mesh file into fluent.
@WaqasLearnTech
@WaqasLearnTech 5 ай бұрын
If you define interface/contacts in Ansys meshing, then you don't need to do anything in fluent. Fluent will read the interface defined in Ansys meshing Alternatively, you have to create the interface in fluent

Yes, we can use it for 3D model as well. When you create a parametric geometry, test your model in SpaceClaim by at extreme value of your parameter. In general when you test your model, none of two faces should merge with each other.

How did you create the Model ? Did you use Contacts ?
@WaqasLearnTech
@WaqasLearnTech Жыл бұрын
I used SpaceClaim to create the model. For contact I use share topology in SpaceClaim. With share topology you can get the conformal mesh and don't need to bother about contact in meshing or Fluent. However, share topology is always not feasibible when you have a complex geometry. In that case, one has to define contacts in meshing and need to define as coupled in Fluent I have plan to make a complete video including model, meshing, simulation and post-processing. I'll discuss these scenarios in that video.
