Beautiful, and wonderful how you incorporate the b part on the lower register, excellent. Many thanks Liz. Ronnie.

Very clean and very well played. And you're one of the rarest fiddlers that I see doing the vibrato the right direction. Bravo.

Confirmed. Your Tenuto is quite lovely. You play it so much more tenderly than I do (but then I'm a recovering Rock guitar player, so...). Mine comes out as a tight waltz, almost a military march. I am still trying to mellow my hands, but decades of "banging" take a while to overcome. I am trying to achieve more Tenuto and less Martele. Well, it is a journey and not a destination, isn't it?

Thank you so much! And pardon me while I Google tenuto... 😊

I love this, you're teaching chord inversions and chord shapes while also giving guidance on how to use them in a melody with minimal memorization. 100% one of my favorite teaching videos!

Yes, it is true. I really like your playing and your tone. So there's that. I just don't know how you can play holding the bow that way. It doesn't matter what I think though, because you make it work.

Basically you're describing what on paper would look like a Sicilian rhythm. And those who swing hard - in any style - even like a Wes Montgomery on a guitar - vary what happens from downbeat to downbeat in ever so subtle ways. Good stuff!

So I just started the violin about a week and a half ago. This lesson was good but a bit detailed for me. If I remember, I'll try and revisit the video in about 6 months or so. I think I'll be able to keep up. Nonetheless, good job explaining!!

Is your fiddle a Neuner Hornsteiner?
@LizFaiellaMusic2 күн бұрын
It's not! It's an old factory-made fiddle from France, apparently.

One problem that I have encountered learning from sheet music is, the same song can be quite different in different song books. I have 2 books where the B part of Blackberry Blossom is barely similar. The suggestion listening many many times will help a lot. Thank you.

This is great. This is different from the way Fanny Power was taught to me, now I have more colors in the pallette to play with on that tune. It's definitely the same tune.

JOHN, I'M NOT WRITING FOR LIZ, BECAUSE I'VE BEEN CAPTIVATED WITH THE BEAUTIFUL SOUND & SIGHT OF HER VIOLIN. SHE HAS ANSWERED THE QUESTION YOU ASKED TO SOMEONE ELSE. SHE SAID HER VIOLIN CAME FROM FRENCH VIOLIN FACTORY. I HAD ASKED HER ABOUT HER VIOLIN, BUT NEVER RECEIVED A RESPONSE. THE DARK COLOR IS NATURAL WOOD AGEING. IT'S A BEAUTIFUL VIOLIN WITH AN AWESOME SOUND PLAYED BY A VERY TALENTED LADY!

I'm pretty sure it's a very old instrument, it may be difficult to find one just like hers. I would recommend finding a good violin dealer and playing many instruments. They all sound and feel different.
