Amazing to see how off road capable svartpilen 401 and xsr700 is. How did the xsr700 and svart 401 do after? Any major damages or issues?

not at all. they were always riden like this. xsr700 is still being abused the same way, and I am now on Norden for past 70.000kms.

One benefit not often talked about is the ability to "Rim flat." I have adventure tires on my 2023 Honda PCX 160. I had a situation where I drove over 100 miles with the rear tire flat, "0"air pressure. Drive ability was acceptable. Gas mileage went way down and there were flashing lights on my traction control system. Other than that, no problem.

I've run flat every tire I've owned on Norden by now from pirelli scorpion str, over bunch of wilds, tkc80, raids, karoo extremes and d908rr. any of those fronts (minus karoo extreme front that I never used tho) never performed well flat, as front 21" rims are really narrow, but all rears usually perform ok when flat with best by far being d908rr, but that tire is such a hard compound and with hard carcas that 0.5bar feels like other tires at 1bar.

@@ericschellenberger612 tire pressure is a very subjective thing. maunfacturers (tires and bikes) have to write an average best pressure, but I weigh 70kg with gear, someone weighs 110kg with gear.. someone rides packed with 30 kilos more, someone rides light. balkan roads are not same quality as the ones in switzerland, and not all of our ride-styles are same. different strenght of sidewalls/carcas, 18" or 17". knobs or not... so many factors to take into account when it comes to pressure.

No. Checked at 30k and at 60k kms, totaled it in an accident this summer at 65.000kms, and now riding a new 2024 norden with xplor suspension. we will see how this one goes. previous one was an unicorn really. this 2024 spends about 15% more l/100km because of euro5+ and I can feel that, and it is annoying, but everything else seems about the same for now 🤙

I upgraded to xplor in May this year, and am totaly fine with it. it is very high but I got used to it. barely touching ground with one foot, and I keep it at max preload for jumps. meanwhile I had a crash (totaled my 2022 norden), and got a 2024 (normal) month a go, and fitting it with xplor as I'm typing this :) I think apex is better for road riding still.

Hi there. Enjoyed your review. But, I hope you won’t mind if I provide my feedback. I am quite the aggressive road rider and reasonably competent off road. But….. I am not getting even close to the wear you are getting. So, I am quite perplexed. I ride a PanAm (yes, heavy bike) so am running 36/38 PSI. I tried 38/42 and they were awful. If you’re running 29psi on the street I am really struggling to see how you would get 16,000km. I suppose I might try 36/36 and see how that goes. Thanks and have a great day.

Yes, I hear from many people they get maximum as half as I have gotten outta them.. I do tend to train powersliding on tarmac and offroad alike, but I think it's just that Norden is 215kg, and I am 75kg with gear max, and since I travel mostly with tank bag only, basicaly sub-300kg (660lbs) is total weight for my most packed tours, and I travel often with only a backpack (9l) when I travel light. For example, my first Karoo Extreme (rear) made something under 9k (5500mi), mostly light touring during winter, and second time of using it I managed to pull out barely something under 4k (2500mi) of shredding in summer, until it became slick, so it has something definitely something to do with how I rode it and time of year and temperature. Also, have in mind that smaller radius tires wear out quicker, as they have to spin more times in order to cover same distance, which can make a noticable difference on long usage. Tire pressure is def a subjective thing differing from tire to tire and rider to rider. For example my current d908rr feels same at 14psi and 28psi as it is a hard tire and I am a light guy, while with trx raid I could really feel every 5%+/- of pressure change. Experiment with pressures is my only advice I can think of. trx raid definitely felt for me like a tire that should be run a bit under recommended pressure, but then again, it's my preference and roads I rode on are usually patchy and not smooth as highways. Cheers

That’s a ton of abuse to throw at the 401 tho. Doubtful it’d hold up long in that environment. Love my ‘20 but on asphalt and NC/TN mountains, that’s where it really lives. Kudos to the off road stuff. It is a blast on fire roads and dirt, but you can’t stand up on the pegs and not be out of sorts.
