Sorry that it didn't quite work out for you, but you gotta realise it's pretty disingenuous to say that Copenhagen Grooming "scammed" you. They didn't scam anyone, and they've got the research showing that the majority (not most, but over 50%) of users responded at least somewhat well to the treatment and saw results. The money is defo a bit tight but I'd like to think it's because of the quality of ingredients and the production value. It's pretty well-understood in the glow up/looks maxxing/whatever community that this 'doesn't work for everyone', and as sad as it is, some/many people's genetics just aren't made to respond to this treatment like "hell yeah bro let's get it", but instead reject it, and like you said, that's fine. The lesson here is most definitely a self-image one, rather than a grooming one. But honestly, although overblown by lucky consumers (and maybe mildly overpriced), the results of this treatment for the majority aren't a joke.

This actually helped confirm that I have a good idea of what UX work would actually be like in real life. I'm a career switcher and my past jobs made me very aware of business constraints and the friction between stakeholders who only care about money and workers who want to do the job well. Creativity is only rewarded if it leads to a big payoff and stakeholders tend to want the Mona Lisa for the price of a stick figure on a napkin, in my experience.

I work in big tech as a designer. I'm not sure if your role was different because you were at a smaller company. Where I work UX is business driven ans customer focused. We sit at the table and provide the opps for product to work with us to prioritize. We set initial priority by research and own that knowledge domain. So this when roadmap planning comes or validation and UAT comes we are a type of PO. Not all UX roles are solely execution
@reux9289 Жыл бұрын
Hey Ariel, I actually think its the other way around and that Designers are able to have bigger in a smaller company 😁. The first company I worked at was a really huge organisation and that's where I experienced all the friction I talk about in the video. But nonetheless, the video is to share the other side of the story that bootcamps don't necessarily inform designs about so everyone can makes decisions with their eyes wide open. But I'm glad you've found the sweet spot in your role, you'll also give hope to other careerchangers out there 😍

Hello, do you have any advice for relatively recent bootcamp grads who just aren't landing interviews or work despite many applications? Thank you!
@reux92892 жыл бұрын
Hey Nomad, my advice would be to focus on the quality of the application rather than the quantity - especially when it comes to answering those pre-screening questions. Try to tailor you application more specifically to the role and highlight how your transferable skills fit that exact role in that specific company that you're applying to. It can be long and tedious but it may be the best approach :)

Thanks for the video. It has been helpful as I consider the best avenue for me. Difference in cost is a tipping factor but as I navigate the short course I realize that the extent of information nested in each tutorial is enormous. How do you know when enough is enough? Or do you go through all the nested information? eg: Tutorial 1: An intro, has a link on line 1 to UX Design (One of around 25 links). UX design talks about the differences bet UX and UI, which again has a link to another article(again one of many, many links), which in turn has links to more articles and so on. I have tried to find the end, unsuccessfully and keep in mind that I am still on line one of tutorial 1. So at what point do I stop going through the nested links? Cause if I am to navigate through all the links and nested links, I imagine this course will take a lot longer than 6-8 months to complete even at 40 hours a week, and there is no way I can remember all that is being covered in tutorials or discussed in videos. Appreciate your response, Thanks!
@reux92892 жыл бұрын
Hey Michelle, to be honest with you, I was just focused on getting an awesome portfolio together which the course exercises help you achieve. So for me, I would typically study the learning material of each chapter and then complete the exercises. Only if I got stuck or needed help would I then dive into the extra material. I found that the chapters were already thorough enough so rarely did I need more. Plus the tutor is also there to help you. Remember you're supposed to be enjoying the learning experience of this too so don't over exert yourself trying to study every single link because, as you said, it would be impossible to remember it all 😁
@michellesudhakar99612 жыл бұрын
@@reux9289 Phew! that's a relief. I enjoy the UX UI phase, but yes the enormity of all the material covered in the links was concerning, especially since I thought we had to watch/read/ memorize all. I am familiar with most of the material as I have been learning /freelancing for a few years now however this course guides with preparing a portfolio and resume, so am seriously considering it. Watched your video about your new role and would like to wish you the very best in your present job and whatever you choose to do forward. Thanks for your response.
