When you said it only had issues with two titles and those two game titles are very popular for the DC. I was OOF!! Another reason to keep the original PSU in is if you ever want to run your DC with the Karaoke addon (probably the same for the zip drive addon too.) I'm not 100 certain on exact dates, but, a high up staff member in Japan who heavily supported the DC (had his face on the initial console boxes in Japan.) Well when he died, apparently, he set money from his vast estate side to keep the DC supported in Japan until like 2007 or something.

hahahaha the sexy albino man 😎 Great video. I love these iMacs. I'm so pleased Apple went back to the iMac G3 roots and introduced all the wonderful colours. They look so much more attractive than the old silver intel machines in my opinion. Interesting to see the performance of the base model 8 core. I must admit, I think this is a bit of a cursed configuration in terms of Apples pricing structure. It's that classic Apple thing where the standard price of the base model is very attractive and that machine makes a lot of sense for those who can deal with the 256GB, but as soon as you start to increase the storage, it makes less and less sense. For instance, this machine was £1529.00 as a result of the upgrade to 512GB and ethernet. The higher end 10-core model with 512GB as default is only £1699.00. So, for only £170.00 more, they could get the faster machine with the 10 core CPU and 10 core GPU, they'd get the same amount of storage, but they'd also get the extra 2 Thunderbolt ports which I think is the biggest thing here. Especially coming from an Intel iMac where the ports are plentiful, I would have definitely spent that extra money to get the 4x Thunderbolt ports... not for the bandwidth or capabilities of the increased number of TB ports specifically, more for just the increased amount of physical connectors on the iMac. The 4 port model is usable without a breakout dongle to integrate into a setup. Having said that, there'd be no real noticeable difference between the 8 core and 10 core machines for day to day use and general computing I don't think. If their setup doesn't require much I/O then it makes sense to save the £170.00, but when you're spending £1500.00+ on a machine to begin with, it's only a tiny amount more money for quite a bit more machine. Thinking as I type, but it also sounds like they're the type of people to make their computer last as long as possible, using Open Core etc on the old iMac, so there's also an argument to made that when these machines get years old and slow down, the extra 2 cores on CPU / GPU would help them a little there... unless support becomes an issue before the actual slowdown of the machine as a result of spec. It's hard to predict how EOL is going to actually feel on Apple Silicon. Anyway. Huge comment. Big thanks for the shoutout dude, really cool that you got to have the unboxing experience on someone else's machine here!

I used to have a base model M1 iMac (actual base model with nothing upgraded) and it wasn't a bad computer. My only complaints were that the 256GB storage didn't go too far, especially with Final Fantasy XIV needing to be installed on local storage, and there only being two USB-C ports. My current M3 iMac (8GB, 512GB storage, 4 USB-C ports) has been a much better machine.

Totally understandable! Physical media on the Dreamcast is made interesting by the weird format of the GDROM, however with the rising cost of Dreamcast games the physical releases do not always make sense unless you're a die hard collector with the cash to spare :)

Lovely stuff here. I’ve learnt a good bit about the DC mods watching this! I bought the fan mod bits a good few years with good intentions, but ended up using the fan itself in a pinch elsewhere. I may still do it, just don’t know when I’ll be pulling the Dreamcast out next. Clear shell DC and Xbox look great together! Looking forward to the follow up on this one.

Wow, I had recently messed with same age mac mini 2,1 (A1114, EMC 2108) and faced the same issues with OS installation. Already mentioned bootefi32 or Windows 10 through Windows Vista upgrade. Suddenly for Linux's it was easier - rufus software (under Windows) flashed ISO to USB in GPT (UEFI) + hybrid/DD mode. Mac mini have no problem recognizing and booting Linux from such USB-stick. Also some other ISO-based utils I was able to boot from USB prepared with YUMI Multiboot tool. With very original one the old versions, not with late YUMI-UEFI or recent YUMI-exFAT. Well I guest for Old piece use Old stuff. Though for some murky reasons the ISOs boots really slow, like USB 1.0 or even slower.

I gave one of these (G5, non-Insight) to my mom back in the day ... just for her email and online shopping. (An eBay "not working" bargain that just needed a new power supply.) It worked for a very long time... until there were no longer useful browsers that ran under Leopard. There was a Firefox spinoff called Arctic Fox that did the trick for a few extra years, but eventually it couldn't handle secure e-commerce sites. Never had a hardware problem - it was the single available browser that eventually aged out.
