You didn’t seal the outer box with any type of sealant or foam. Water is going to get inside the house when it rains through those cracks on the electrical box. I’ve seen it happened way too many times before! Especially on HVAC’s that don’t use sealant foam when replacing new AC units. They did all that work but destroy the house in the process without sealant or sealant foam.
@blacklabremodeling2 күн бұрын
@@tpp4007 actually we did. The box comes with a foam gasket that goes between the house and the box, and we always use an exterior silicone sealant. Thanks for the comment!

My floor is very cold. I have no insulation. Just bought the house.

@@newwavepressure6478I’d recommend talking with licensed contractor in your area for some of the best practices to solve that problem. Where I am in California, we don’t insulate the crawl spaces often. Our climate zone doesn’t get as cold as yours.

I love old-school plumbing. nowadays, everybody with a pro press is a plumber. they do have their place. I think plumbers should know every technique. I really like the way you protected the customers, tub, flooring and vanity.
@andrewisland80962 ай бұрын
I would use a uponor copper stub out on hot and cold side, sweat brass drop ear for spout, and a coated screws not a sheetrock screws. Wondering if you have enough left to cut out press cap on the toilet supply to put escutcheon and a valve, I would use a shark bite cap or a sweat cap. For those who get triggered by shark bite I won't put shark bites in the wall only for testing or a temporary fix.
@blacklabremodeling2 ай бұрын
@@andrewisland8096 The sharkbites are great for the caps and temporary fixes, like you said, not inside the walls. The reasons for the press fittings, is mainly insurance. No flames inside the finished home. I appreciate the comments and the feedback!

Is it possible to do it without cutting the pipe. I need to replace mine, but I looks too short to cut.
@blacklabremodeling3 ай бұрын
It depends. The original plan was to not cut the pipe, but unfortunately the brass ring crimped the pipe and caused some flaring so it wouldn’t come off. Have a compact pipe cutter handy just incase you need to cut it, so you can cut as close to the nut as possible.

A ground fault is not an overload.
@blacklabremodeling5 ай бұрын
A ground fault is an unintentional connection between an energized conductor and a ground, which results current flow through soil, water, or another conductive material. This can occur due to improper wiring, a faulty appliance, or a surge in voltage. The ground fault will result in a slow, but sustained raise in the current which is what makes electrocution a high risk with ground faults. The GFCI outlet detects this increased current and when working properly cuts off the circuit. I appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment!
@JohnDemolition5 ай бұрын
@@blacklabremodelingGFCIs only measure imbalance between phase and neutral. If current in - current out is greater that 5mA, it shuts off. This is completely unrelated to overloading.
@blacklabremodeling5 ай бұрын
@@JohnDemolition You’re correct and I misspoke, thanks for watching and commenting.
@blacklabremodeling5 ай бұрын
@@JohnDemolition however, a surge in voltage can be caused by plugging in too many things on the circuit (overloading the circuit), putting in a piece of equipment that requires more start up amps than the circuit can handle which will also cause the GFCI outlet to trip. So while a ground fault may not specifically be an overload, they are also often tripped by overloading the circuit they are protecting.

Which way does faced insulation go you ask? Whatever direction the garbage can is….. most id do with it is peel the face off and then use a real vapour barrier that will also air seal..😂

Well @justinstevenson2061, how does that work out for you with the inspector? That is a really good way to fail an inspection in our area and waste both your time and the client's money.

I have found that LED replacement bulbs have wildly various lives. Probably the same for LED fixtures. It's unfortunate that there can't be LED fixtures with user replaceable bulbs, that the whole fixture needs to be replaced. I'm not sure what that means for contractors.
