Out of all the videos, this is a real professional. I was taught by a painter to learn to cut with both hands.

If you were, for example, painting a single wall in a home to use as an experiment and you applied 1 coat of primer then 1 coat of topcoat then you looked at it and decided to add one more coat of topcoat to make the finish appear more "full" for lack of a better word and you were satisfied with that look. When you begin painting the other walls that are just like the experiment wall, will the finish appear the same if you decided to apply 2 coats of primer and 1 coat of top coat? I had read an article that a guy wrote and he was talking about if you are going to paint something more than 2 coats (1 primer and 1 topcoat), to use primer for those additional coats. One reason being primer is half the price of top coat paint usually. But Ive never done an experiment to see with my own eyes if you painted a wall with 1 primer / 2 topcoats would it appear the same to the eyes if you used 2 primer / 1 topcoat? Would you also recommend that same strategy of using multiple primer coats vs multiple topcoats?

Question - Im not very knowlegeable of best paints to use in certain scenarios so I'm asking you guys. I literally scraped all the old paint off the drywall in my guest bedroom using a heat gun and I re-mudded the entire surface area going for an L5 finish. Im about 80% complete with the mud/sanding and I'm approaching the point where I need to select my primer and topcoat. Im now seeing these articles saying something like "seal your drywall before priming" which makes it sound like sealant is a seperate thing from primer and should be applied to the wall first and then the primer after that. But then the very next sentence says "using a primer-sealant is crucial for good paint adhesion" and I'm like .... so why would it say "seal your drywall before priming?" Can you guys explain this b/c im more confused now than i was before i had heard of drywall sealant.

Bro you have to use an oil based primer over oil based paint if you are switching to water based 😂 what a hack

Every painter has their top quality of hand held brushes. You can have the best brush, but I really believe it’s how good you can cut in. I personally use Purdy brushes. This is just my own personal opinion. I’m not criticizing any company, or anyone.

Masking top spots is the most tedious task in spray painting Did you guys use an ordinary ladder to reach and mask the high areas?

Great video, I'm going to be implementing something similar for smaller jobs. Many homeowners don't realize that for a contractor to drive across the city, and do an in-person meeting for a quote, it can easily cost the contractor several hours + vehicle costs. It's especially hard when I give that much time out of the day, and it's just a small low value job, and they say thanks, and that they were just "curious" what a contractor would charge.

Don’t like angle cut sash brushes. With a twitch of the wrist a square cut can go back without flipping. Purdy no longer seems to stock brush racks with square cut sash brushes. They also discontinued the 4” XL Titan years ago. The only 4” brushes they sell now have sharp square corners on the ferrule which make it uncomfortable to choke up on. Economists are running design not painters. DIYers don’t want to spend money on good brushes or clean them properly

Thank you for this, I had some previously used doors installed but they definitely don’t pass the scratch test. I’ll strip them back to the bare wood before repainting. Thanks again.

If you spray at a shop temp that is 53 then take them inside the business at the same temp checking them every time you hang another to the end and they look perfect, then after you clean the gun up, 20-30min, you walk back into the drying area to find the boss turned the heat up to 75 and all the cabinet doors have runs, what do you say?

The spray pole looks great. But shocking to see a professional worker climbing a 60 ft ladder. That's insane. I'm used to other regulations, where the maximum height for professional work on ladders is 6.5 feet

Those are sash brushes, not for cutting walls. they leave gaps. when you use an actual wall brush , which is a flat brush, no angle, you get much more even coverage. You need a very good, 3 or 4 inch brush with fine bristles.

"Sponsored by" Stak Rak. Also you're reading a script... This looks like you can make a mistake and the upper stacked door can slide off the rack and can drop on the bottom door giving birth to a plethora of curse words and ruining your paint job and day. The design is promising but lacks security. Too flimsy.
