If you were, for example, painting a single wall in a home to use as an experiment and you applied 1 coat of primer then 1 coat of topcoat then you looked at it and decided to add one more coat of topcoat to make the finish appear more "full" for lack of a better word and you were satisfied with that look. When you begin painting the other walls that are just like the experiment wall, will the finish appear the same if you decided to apply 2 coats of primer and 1 coat of top coat? I had read an article that a guy wrote and he was talking about if you are going to paint something more than 2 coats (1 primer and 1 topcoat), to use primer for those additional coats. One reason being primer is half the price of top coat paint usually. But Ive never done an experiment to see with my own eyes if you painted a wall with 1 primer / 2 topcoats would it appear the same to the eyes if you used 2 primer / 1 topcoat? Would you also recommend that same strategy of using multiple primer coats vs multiple topcoats?
