Taiwan is making a TV show called "Zero Day," which dramatizes what it could look like if China were to attack Taiwan, told from a Taiwanese perspective. It's a ten part series.

I guess one could remove the southernmost map from WED and abstract that part or lay it to one side... Or maybe I should accept it won't happen and sell the pair?

Two questions: - How do you get pieces from your production pool onto the board if they didn't go into the reserve. - How does the Action cup work (this is sort of about part 1)? I would find it helpful to get explanations on these.

??? The manovering around combat and the battles are the best part of Hannibal. To remove the battle cards is really weird. I guess it saves time but that is really fun tense part of gameplay (like when you have just a few startegy cards and have to gamble "do I need this ops or can I use it for event or politica influence now"?

People either LOVE or HATE that mechanic. I happen to like it in Hannibal. I also like the alternate combat reslution in Hamilcar. Nice thing is that we get to have BOTH. I see no reason why you can't retrofit the Hannibal combat system into Hamilcar. :-)

I have the 20th edition one, everything fits in my box inclding the small expansions (orginally Kickstarter stuff). The rules are a bit confusing (Hamilcar especially) sometimes unless you know the game already. Seems very much like an FAQ version, I'll get the rules (for Hamilcar) for sure!

Think the advance after combat for the attack in the American sector needed to stop in the hill hex where defender was (per AAC rules related to hills ) - so only able to advance one hex not two? FYI, your playthrough playlist for this game has been very helpful re: both understanding the rules and considering strategies for both the Germans and Allies. Thx for making and sharing

I have a rules question for you: I’m assuming the answer is yes, but I would like to verify. During a battle it has come to the OC’s turn to activate… along w whatever commands or orders he performs, can he still use his command range during the shock attack segment to have all units within that range to shock attack(7.33)? Even if a tribune has had those units attack earlier that turn? Is there a limit to how many times a unit can shock attack during a game turn (again assuming no) ? Thank you for your help !

@joeltoppen8 ай бұрын
July 29, 2022. I did the Floral Park Traverse (long off-trail route) from Logan Pass to Lake McDonald in a day last August. If you do this route in a single day, be sure to get plenty of water before making the descent from Sperry Chalet. It can be quite hot and you're pretty much exposed for much of that segment and you'll hit it at the hottest part of the day too.

27:25, March is from any origins to the destination (like Falling Sky). So you could have brought a Governor from Madhyadesh on top of the troops from Malwa. Not that it would have changed anything since Timur decided to follow up on the mass Bahmani rebellions to strike a destabilized Delhi right after! Final battle in Delhi is "to the death", so the Mongol will attack until either there is no more DS troops or no more Mongol invaders. Also, Mongol Invaders only roll 3 dice when attacking Delhi. GG!

Hi Joel. Thx for the video. Im interested in the invasion details. Were you able "land" a 4 strength armor unit? then attack with it solo? That enabled you to take Amsterdam for reinforcing? The limitations of the beachhead marker seem to make it critical to get a port?
@joeltoppen8 ай бұрын
Negative: a 3-step armor elite (Canadian) + 1-step Detachment IIRC. OKW was way behind on initiative and the West had an available order to then move into Amsterdam. By the time OKW could respond with a movement order, the Allies were well-established. I only needed the beachhead briefly for the landing.

Good stuff! Yep, you had it right at ~17:20 (regarding the asymmetry of Attack between DS and BK/VE). At ~37:30, after the consequences are carried out by DS, any Mongols beyond 3 go back to Available. The Migrating Amirs into Malwa at ~40:00 flip to Obedient, as they start life anew. Super fun to watch, thanks! Looking forward to the conclusion...

Thanks for orienting the map properly (north-south) instead of the idiotic west-east perspective of all Vassal iterations for previous editions of this game. This looks to be one of the best Vassal modules I've seen.
@joeltoppen9 ай бұрын
You cannot believe the grief I've gotten over the map orientation. I swear, the people that play this game are some of the most demanding (entitled), rude, and ungrateful lot it has ever been my misfortune to have to deal with.
@robs56889 ай бұрын
@@joeltoppen I believe it, as I got into it with someone on Consimworld over the stupid map orientation of previous modules, a number of years ago. And they can't come up with a compelling reason why the map orientation should be anything different from the way you have it. In my opinion, there are three main reasons to orient the Vassal module map as you have it, as follows: 1) It is the normal way a person looks at a map of Europe, with west being toward the left and east being toward the right. Why this game's module, contrary to practically all other games dealing with the same subject, should have a different perspective doesn't make any sense. 2) It presents the game in a neutral point of view, without some subconscious psychological nod toward the German point of view of previous modules. Frankly, this aspect speaks toward the predilection of many players to only be interested in "Conquering Russia" (ie, the German perspective), which is also why many of them only ever play the first year of the game. 3) Ostensibly, there should be at least somewhat less "Shift Scrolling" necessary with this perspective, because the front line is shown mostly vertically on the screen, not mostly horizontally as in previous Vassal modules. I've wondered why the individuals who made earlier Vassal modules chose the obviously inferior west-east map orientation, and I can only come up with two reasons, neither of which is compelling. The first, which adherents of that point of view like to point out, is that most of the labels on the map of the earlier versions of the game (specifically the city names) are facing "west". Okay, I get that, but frankly, that's Avalon Hill's and JEDKO's mistake, in my opinion, and this mistake shouldn't be repeated in a Vassal module. They got that wrong from the start, because those labels should have been facing south, even long before anyone ever heard of personal computers or Vassal. Regardless of which way the map labels are facing, they are not a compelling reason to orient the entire Vassal map the same way. The second reason for the earlier west-east map orientations is what I think is the real reason for doing that, namely, because players of this game are obsessed in seeing this game from the German perspective because they are mainly interested in "Conquering Russia", and not much else. That's why so many of them only ever play the first six turns or so. Anyway, I could go on with this, but I'll leave it at that. Your Vassal module is compelling my to once again playing this game, after ignoring it for so long because of the ridiculous previous modules.
