I know this is a super old post, but hey, this is a cool idea. Not that I have a preference of coding language, as I don't really know any of them, but why Java? I really like it and I want to make one and use it in my keyboard rig, but I don't know how to write the software to make a MIDI looper. I prefer to have a very simple interface because I do have a touch screen for my Pi3, so this looks very close to being what I need. The only difference is I want the Pi to begin recording when I send a MIDI message and start repeating after x number of measures. This process should repeat for as long as I want it to, and stopping by either me sending a particular MIDI message (Panic button, All Note Off, etc.), or just hitting a stop button on the touch screen. Did this project ever go any further?

Hi Mikel, I am trying to do your project as practice, and I have everything set up ( heroku, spark, etc) but when I try to connect , the Arduino keeps saying "connection refused" on the terminal. Not sure what is causing it. Awesome video btw!
@MikelDuke6 жыл бұрын
Have you tried connecting to the service from just your web browser or using curl? If it doesn't work from from those, then you might not have the address right or it might not be running on heroku correctly.

I can't stress enough how awesome this is. Did you consider making a live reaction feature with that? Theoretically speaking the table could react to it's environment and go crazy eg football matches (like the stadium in Munich). So many ideas for this! Keep up the good work, Mikel!

Was in the process of doing this but after soldering the 100 rgb LED's I started on the divider's then my dremel died so its been sitting around for a few weeks!
@MikelDuke9 жыл бұрын
James Richardson Wow that sounds like a pain. I used a couple LED strands, similar to this www.adafruit.com/product/322 and then used a laser cutter to cut out the dividers.
@JamesRichardsonGoogle9 жыл бұрын
I used the ws2812b LED's, I was looking for a place to get the divider's cut for me but the price was a bit high. On the plus's side all the electronics are done and the base so I can still work on the software!

+Mikel Duke +Collin Bell I spent all day yesterday looking for similar. Do any of you know of any way I can simply send my RPi a string of text? I want to program it to search the text for a function variable / keyword and take the text after the keyword as its argument. The goal is to be able to speak to the Pi conversationally.

Hi. Great to see that TheSynth is getting around. It sounds like you haven't set up the voices of the synth, the default values are not so pretty. Here is an example of TheSynth's full potential: dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/2248531/the_synth_concert.mp3
