It does , but due to the machining of the S&W Plus, using the adapter plate with the sight causes it to shoot high at 15 yards and runs out of (up and down) adjustment. At least it did with me....and Scrib's, He's the reason I sent mine off to have it milled correctly.

Hey bro, need some trigger advice. Action on my OR Shield Plus 9 was smooth at the range, but after cleaning the gun, the trigger feels gritty after it hits the wall and breaks. It's smooth with the slide off, but gritty with the slide on. Could I have gotten some crud in the slide somehow? Thanks in advance.
@scrib_nibit
@scrib_nibit Жыл бұрын
Happened to me once. There is some sort of debris/ or burr inside your striker pin safety. Push on the safety plunger at an angle and see if it feels gritty or rough. It should feel smooth. If not, try using compressed air and blowing out the striker channel first. Check for grittiness. If the grit is still there,, time to perform minor surgery. *_At your own risk._* There are videos out there to show you how to remove the striker pin safety. You have to loosen the screw on the rear sight and drift it to the left to remove the striker pin safety and check it for a burr or debris. A sight pusher really helps here. Be careful because there is a tiny spring and cap under there holding the safety plunger in. While you're in there, clean out the striker safety channel. Hope this helps. Anyone else, feel free to chime in if you have experienced this and fixed using a different method.

@@scrib_nibit I have a buddy that works at Range USA gun range and has access to a sight pusher. I'm not going to take a hammer to it like in some of those videos. I tried the compressed air and it actually helped a bit. It's still not as smooth as it should be. I'll mess with it next weekend. Thanks.

I found a video on it and it wasn't that hard. Harder to get that safety spring and cap back in, but it's together and working smoothly again. I sprayed some Hornady One Shot in it and swabbed around, dried it off, and put it together. I didn't see anything that could of been causing the grit. Must've been real small. Thanks for the help.

I just purchased this S&W Shield Plus and trying to learn as much as i can about it. One other video i watched showed the guy pulling the trigger and then pulling slide off ... does it matter? Is dry firing not recommended with this striker fired gun? GREAT video on how to clean and lubricate
@scrib_nibit
@scrib_nibit Жыл бұрын
S&W added the sear release lever so that you don't have to pull the trigger to take off the slide. Sort of a reassurance that you won't accidentally fire off a round. It is safe to dry fire these guns, but if you are going to be doing _a lot_ of dry firing drills, I recommend using snap caps. A-Zoom makes some good snap caps. Thanks for watching!

The 10/22 can be a little tricky to disassemble and reassemble for cleaning. I've gotten excellent results in cleaning my 10/22 by just pulling back the bolt, locking it into position and scrubbing the bolt face, feeding ramp and entire loading breach area with a toothbrush, a smaller child's toothbrush works best, then wipe the area with a clean cloth and you're good to go. I've had my 10/22 for 20+ years and have never disassembled it for cleaning.
