Had mine done a couple days ago at the VA… wasn’t “painful” in the classic sense but almost felt like the sensation you get when you touch your tongue to a 9V battery.., like a mild shock that lasted the procedure. I found myself breathing heavily… not fun but not the end of the world.

Mine is scheduled for tomorrow. I'll just leave this here and if I don't come back to update it, you'll know I didn't survive. So now two days after my cysto, I can say it wasn't at all painful. I can't say it tickled, but nothing to worry about. My urologist used the rigid scope. I called him old-school and he said everything he did was old-school but with experience. I don't think it took one minute and he was done. I literally talked out loud which took my mind off the procedure. It just feels weird but it did not hurt and no after effects. On my first trip to the men's room shortly after, I had one little speck of blood and no more. I will add that two weeks prior to this, I had a urodynamics test. It was no joy, but I did walk out on my own power and no pain followed.

Just had mine and it was a breeze. Hardly felt anything except for a little burning. It was more messy than anything. Really, if it hurts you either had a Cro-Magnon do it or you are a sissy. Put your big boy pants on.

I have a sore bladder pretty often in the morning. Like not pain but sore enough to keep me from going back to sleep if I wake up prematurely and try not to get up and pee. I usually don’t even have a lot of urine in this situation. It’s just that the urine that is in there is really irritating. The other day I went to a party and drank a good bit of alcohol, worst night of sleep in my life. Bladder was very irritated. Urologist always says my urine is negative for any issues and my prostate is not enlarged.

just had this test . I was freaking out because of all the negativity online with comments on how terrible it is. I felt hardly nothing. It was over very quickly. Really hardly no discomfort at All. So please people don't let comments scare you off from a test that can help you and give you peace of mind. Reply

Maybe my experiences are different as I live in England where we have a national health service and these sort of procedures are done in hospitals by specialist urology doctors. As I am older and have an enlarged prostate I have had about 8 flexible cystoscopies over the last 10 years. None of which have been painful. I will give you that they are uncomfortable, but painful no. I have had 3 in the last 6 months because I had a really nasty UTI in May this year which put me in hospital and yesterday I had a rigid cystoscopy under a general anaesthetic as a day surgery in my local hospital. This is because the flexible cystoscopies identified a suspect red patch on my bladder wall which they wanted to biopsy to check whether it was cancerous. This is why they are important. Everything said in the video is correct. Yes they do pump gel down your urethra, but mine was only a small plastic syringe. Yes you can feel it as it is pushed through your sphincter, but the more relaxed you are the less you feel it. Yes they do pump water into your bladder to fill it up otherwise the camera can’t see around in there. Yes it’s cold because it is sterile and is refrigerated to keep it sterile. If you watch on the screen you can even see that there is a bubble which floats to the top of your bladder so they know which way is up. Yes it does sting for a while when you pee afterwards. Pain is relative and a flexible cystoscopy, in my opinion, is briefly about a 0.5 or less out of 10 on the pain scale. HOWEVER, prostate cancer and bladder cancer are BIG KILLERS in the male population. So my advice on all this is don’t hesitate to have a cystoscopy of either type if you are told you need one. If you wimp out it may ultimately kill you !

I had one two days ago. Anxiety before hand was pretty high. Didn’t get any of the numbing gel. My question to anybody out there is how long does the pain last after when peeing??? I’m struggling every time I try to pee. It’s like I’m pissing hot sauce. How did you guys get through the post procedure hurdles?

Had mine 2 days ago lol. I was on the verge of leaving the chair after i saw the size of the camera that was going in. 😐 The worst part for me was going over the prostate and thru the sphincter. It was literally a second of pain and that was about it thankfully. It did sting with whatever the nurse injected before. I had horrible thoughts that it'd get stuck, cut my insides, get hard and theyd think i was some kind of freak. Just glad its over lol

Piece of cake. The strange part for this country boy is legs spread, no underpants and two female nurses in the room and just talking about the wather. Its like a nudist coony with i am the only one with no clothes. Needing to pee but not being able to is an odd sensation. The tube i felt not much. I did find that i have cancer and so now a bigger tube but knocked out. The discomfort, the bleeding, the clots come afterwards. I usually ony start to get nervous te day before.

I'm supposed to go tomorrow morning for a cystoscopy. I may cancel now after seeing this! Jeez, will this affect me at work a day later? I'm in a position where I sometimes cannot use the bathroom while I'm with patients myself. Thanks for the video and how soon was it until you felt "normal" again without burning? Oh, do you need a diaper afterwards since you are numb down there and cannot feel any sensation to urinate?

i had one several minths ago. the doc said it would be 'uncomfortable'. regrettably, my experience was horrific. it was the most painful and traumatic experience i ever had. i dropped a few F bombs while he was doing it. after it was over, i had a rectal ultrasound. that was easy. i was still on the table naked from the waist down and he started talking about treatments. i was in tears by the time he left. i will insist in some kund of sedation if i ever have to endure this again. fortunately, my experience is uncommon.

Man, I saw a Urologist last week, because of an enlarged prostate. She said I need to get a cystoscopy. I came home and searched for cystoscopy and of course, youtube being youtube, immediately came up with a LOT of videos dealing with it. One of them, was yours, this one, and I watched it. I have to say, that while there are tons of clinical videos out there, I was interested in yours, because of the immediacy of it, being only a few hours after you had the procedure. But like others here, I am still debating as to whether or not I am glad I watched it! I mean, you did an insanely great job of detailing it, which is good, but at the same time, it is those details that are scaring the heck out of me! I mean, when you showed that pen, saying it was about the size of the instrument they would be sticking up there, well, that would scare any guy! Heck, I chose my Dr, because I wanted an Asian female Dr who is good looking. Man, I got one! My Urologist is totally HOT! But you know, and I was just thinking about this after watching your video and those other clinical ones that purport to show actual lab rooms where cystoscopy are being done. Even IF this totally beautiful Asian female Urologist WILL be the one holding onto my "thing", while she is sticking in that HUGE instrument, I don't think even her holding onto me, is going to make it any better! But I Am going to watch your part two video or update video, to see what your update is. Thanks very much for posting this video. I think it was the most helpful and I am going to schedule my own cystoscopy next week. Heaven help me.....

I had mine a few months, and I was very nervous in the appointment prior, I told my doctor that the hole in my pecker was too small, so he asked me to pull it out. I did, and he said “yeah, it will fit”. I told him I get creeped out even thinking about it, so he gave me an Rx for three lorazapams. Said try 1 some weekend when I was just hanging around to see how it affects me. Then take 1 an hour before the procedure, and if I think I need more, take the second one, which I did. Lorazapam is a relaxer, not a pain killer. I had the procedure, and it really wasn’t too bad. It was uncomfortable for a few seconds here and there, but all in all, I was over-reacting. When I get my kidney replaced, they will be shoving all sorts of stuff up there, but I just hope it is no worse than this procedure.
@rollee2238 ай бұрын
@@Brian-xu9di Hey man, thanks for this additional input of your own experience. I had never even heard of a cystoscopy before! But as for me, my urologist wanted me to try one last medication which is alfuzosin 10mg. I really didn't want to try another one, but I did, and i am SO glad I did! it works like a charm, and now, well, let's just say I can "put out forest fires" now, whereas before, if there had been a burning cigarette butt in front of me at my feet, I would be hard pressed to be able to put it out! So for me, I am saved for now, from having to do the cystoscopy that it appeared that I was destined to have to do! Thanks for the information though, it was very helpful and informative!

Great video thank you. I had my first done 3 days ago. Apart from a pinch as it went through my sphincter it was pain free and not uncomfortable, however afterwards the tip of my penis stung and I desperately needed to go to the bathroom. I would do it again if I need it.
