Wonderful..I worry so much about dogs becoming mere accessories.. If its worth looking after a dog at all surely it must be all about genuinely loving them i.e meeting their needs, bless you, Karen in Cambridge

I talk baby talk to my doggo nephew and doggie niece. Accodring to dog psychologists and scientsts they love it because it's high pitched like their barks. Also they actually do know words it's been proved though their vocabluary is like a human 2 year old's.

You shouldn't let certain dogs sleep in your bed. For example a chow chow will think the bed is actually his. I've witnessed chow chows over reacting to a stranger touching or sitting on "their bed". The attack ended up causing injury and the owner put the dog down. Sad really

When I was little we had a dog who liked to jump up on the roof of his doghouse. That put him in a good position for me to hug him. Normally he didn’t like being hugged. He would let me hug him for a minute or two and then he’d squirm to let me know that he wanted me to let him go. And I would let him go. When I was crying about something I went to the dog for comfort. I’d call him to jump up on his doghouse and I’d put my arms around him and bury my face in his fur and cry. He never once squirmed to get away when I was crying. He let me hug him and cry as long as I wanted until I let go.

Homes that have dogs are less likely to be broken into statistically. Their bark appears to be a deterrent.

They are pack animals and they sleep together in the wild to protect themselves it makes sense. When I was in the hospital having Chemotherapy I know I would have been a lot less stressed had he been next to me! ❤️🐕🐕🐕❤️

Dogs are incredibly empathetic! I live alone although I have two furry roommates. They are very tuned into my moods or struggles. We are now a pack of three. I feel very privileged to be a part of their world!❤❤🐕🦺🐕🦺🐕🐕❤️❤️

I just got a dog two and a half months ago that replaced my other service dog this dog was donated to me and is the first large dog I've ever had in voice she brings me comfort and she's already saved me twice without even training her, she sensed that my blood pressure was off and let me know and sniffed me and nudged me and I took my blood pressure and another thing that happened was I lost consciousness and she brought me back❤ dogs rule❤

Strangely enough, that's true. I was just thinking about the time when my mom was sleeping and one of her dogs (his name is Spirit) woke her up because her blood sugar levels was dangerously low. Spirit did that all without training too. 🥲

They definitely understand some words and shushing seems to also be very effective from breed to breed. I've also noticed that some words dogs seem to understand without having to train it. For example the word bag seems to work very quickly with some dogs. It doesn't require as much training and Association as other command words
@Kidge.608121 күн бұрын
You must also be swift, firm inconsistent with them. So that they know you're strong enough to protect them. If you're a pushover, they won't trust you to be able to defeat the alpha male of other packs. That's what they expect you to do. If you let them push you around, they'll assume that they are the pack leader and for most dogs, they know darn well they can't protect everybody in the pack. So, whenever there's a perceived threat around ( which could be any sound or movement near the house), they're going to feel threatened and anything you're saying to them won't matter. Because you're just a subordinate pack member yapping at them in a time they consider an emergency. They will often be be barking calling out for help from any nearby allies.

there is something most owners dont know even you tube, animals are born without a soul!? notice a dog like mine her name was brandy, brandy iived 17 yrs and died in her sleep, like most humans do, ? when she was a puppy the tearing up furniture, the trash can and what is inside it, making a mess , well dog need to understand better then teaching them, i had brandy baptized in a catholic baptizmism , before the blessing she came upon a statue of jesus and she wanted to rip it up! , but after the blessing , she cried next to it, ! her whole life people use to say that she acted like a human more then a dog?she was the one thast knew if there was trouble going to happen in the house between others then we did, and she made life in peace.brandy was cremated and buried in a coffin in a cemetary like a human , and people have told me that as they walked by her headstone they were at peace,! some people stand or sit there for hrs, and dont know why?TO NOTE, IF YOUR DOG OR CAT ISNT BAPTIZED , GET IT DONE AND WATCH THGE CHANGE IN BOTH YOUR LIFE AND THERES?

"Cut the playtime short and they will get it..." - that is a load of crap. Some dogs are just plain stubborn (call it intense if you like) and they just don't ever get it.

My new rescue understood everything, still does. If I taught her something new, she had it first time. Many things I said to her, she understood and acted accordingly, first time. I dropped a pill bottle, it rolled away. I asked my long time boy, I raised from a puppy, to 'get it'. He wouldn't. I asked my new rescue, a year old to, 'get it'. She pounced on it, grabbed it and brought it right to me! I had never shown nor asked her this before. She's done so many amazing thing it often leaves me astonished. Of course I treat both of them equally and the same. Equal treats, equal lovies. I read that favoritism often can leave the least rewarded dog depressed over time. Happy dogs, happy lufe.

Mine loves that first 15 minutes in the morning when I'm trying to get dressed and he wants his cuddles 🥰❤❤ then he rolls onto his back for his belly rub. When I first started walking him, he was already three years old - he belonged to a disabled friend - and was scared of the outside world. It took him nearly two years to start acting like a dog and sniffing the world around him. Now he gets totally lost in his doggy world at times when he finds something interesting to sniff and loves long walks out in the wilds. Yes, he loves new places and meeting new doggy friends. I think he enjoys his new home since his mummy died and I became his forever daddy!

Looking back, I’m saddened to see I didn’t allow my first dog to sleep on my bed. Today, all my dogs can sleep anywhere they want. They usually choose a spot on the bed with me. I keep my voice down, I dont yell at them, never hit them. I always hug them when I get home and I give them a treat after mushings. I try to pay attention to their messages to me like “I’m hungry,” “ let’s got w[for walkies,” or “can we go on the truck?” I make their dinners from real food, cooked or raw. I add special treats in their meals like melted butter on vegetables, leftover people foods, liver or meat. They both come to me after dinner as if saying, “that was so good, thanks dad.” I always tell them “good girl or good boy” and I gently let them while saying it. They both respond, ears up and they show expressive “love eyes.” ❤
