I couldn't find the link to this video at first. Too me a few minutes to find it. I actually got so scared that I had lost the link to this video. I... I am struggling not to start crying rn. I just.. I got so scared that I lost the link.. I feel so damn silly rn. When i didn't see it on the first few videos in the search I started to panic. Like, hands shaking sharp cold spike of fear panic. I was literally a few videos down, I just had to keep scrolling like an idiot 🥲 The sense of relief that came with finding this video and hearing the opening notes... I don't know I'm just... 😭 I'm gonna go get cleaned up and calm down. After watching it again...

With an effect like 1:43 what would be the expected / good amount of hours for someone to make this?
@VFX_Apprentice
@VFX_Apprentice 17 күн бұрын
Hey there! If we separate the amount of hours spent making this particular VFX, this will not account for all the training and practice done by the student prior to this finished effect. This student was very active during last year, constantly looking for feedback and trying something new. For reference, you could check their ArtStation: halibelvfx.artstation.com/ that might help to understand the amount of work done. As for hours, it will vary drastically from person to person, so we can't give you a numerical estimate. It always depends on your current skill level and experience, you can complete an effect as a student in around two weeks. But there is no shame in taking longer if you need the time!

Hey there! Will keep this suggestion in mind, but in the meantime, we have a series on Texture Painting in Krita in our All Access subscription. In this series, Ali goes over the tools Krita offers, and shows how to paint 9 different textures. www.vfxapprentice.com/courses/hand-painted-textures-stylized-fx

Hi! I’m really passionate about becoming a game VFX artist, and I’m considering purchasing your VFX course. Before I make the decision, I wanted to ask: do you think specializing in game VFX is still a strong career path in 2024? Or would it be wiser to focus on learning multiple skills to stay competitive in the industry? Additionally, could you recommend other skills that would complement a career in game VFX? Can you tell me what other skills I can learn alongside game VFX to enhance my career prospects? I’m truly invested in building a stable and successful career in this field, but I can’t help feeling a bit worried about making the right choices.
@VFX_Apprentice
@VFX_Apprentice Ай бұрын
Greetings! Yes, VFX Artists are still a role in demand and you will find many listings from companies, even after layoffs. It is true that there aren't that many Junior listings currently, but we expect this to normalize with the new year. The fact that most listings are for mid or senior positions, makes it even more important to have a good portfolio with a solid understanding of the artistic principles. That's exactly the reason why many of VFX Apprentice classes are focusing on artistic principles, along with learning new software or engines. VFX in itself combines artistic and technical skills together. You can broaden your style by learning 2D animations or go into more simulated effects with Houdini or Embergen. You can also become more of a generalist or technical artist with the base knowledge already acquired in the VFX field, making you more flexible in multiple roles. But we would suggest to focus on one field at a time with the possibility to expand your knowledge in the long run!

Thats actually something i havent thought about. But it makes a lot of sense. If you have a very simplistic body of water and then hyper realistic splashes come out it will look weird.
