Hi! I’m really passionate about becoming a game VFX artist, and I’m considering purchasing your VFX course. Before I make the decision, I wanted to ask: do you think specializing in game VFX is still a strong career path in 2024? Or would it be wiser to focus on learning multiple skills to stay competitive in the industry? Additionally, could you recommend other skills that would complement a career in game VFX? Can you tell me what other skills I can learn alongside game VFX to enhance my career prospects? I’m truly invested in building a stable and successful career in this field, but I can’t help feeling a bit worried about making the right choices.

Greetings! Yes, VFX Artists are still a role in demand and you will find many listings from companies, even after layoffs. It is true that there aren't that many Junior listings currently, but we expect this to normalize with the new year. The fact that most listings are for mid or senior positions, makes it even more important to have a good portfolio with a solid understanding of the artistic principles. That's exactly the reason why many of VFX Apprentice classes are focusing on artistic principles, along with learning new software or engines. VFX in itself combines artistic and technical skills together. You can broaden your style by learning 2D animations or go into more simulated effects with Houdini or Embergen. You can also become more of a generalist or technical artist with the base knowledge already acquired in the VFX field, making you more flexible in multiple roles. But we would suggest to focus on one field at a time with the possibility to expand your knowledge in the long run!

Thats actually something i havent thought about. But it makes a lot of sense. If you have a very simplistic body of water and then hyper realistic splashes come out it will look weird.

What I had gotten from this (not when I first saw it as a teen), is that mankind consumes water, fire, and earth's resources in order to create our machinery; all of which makes up the foundation of what we use to live/thrive.

Wow, that Gran Turismo story got me remembering. When I was in University I was a red bull student brand manager. We went to some fancy branding event in London, and we had a Karting event at one of London's top tracks. I got in there and raced, but I had been playing a LOT of F1 racing those times, and I came second in that event, only to a semi pro German driver, which was decent considering how competitive it was. I attribute that performance to my gaming :)

Hello there! The two most commonly used animation software packages in production are Adobe Animate and Toon Boom Harmony. That being said, most animation programs are quite similar. If you can animate in one switching software will not be the biggest problem!

@@VFX_Apprentice Thanks for the quick response...So the site seems to have courses scattered around under various heading I am not sure what VFX-A All access means then there is featured courses then guided courses and 2d fx courses 3d fx courss and advances 2d/3d courses and what not. As a new visitor its very over whelming. So lets say imagine me wanting to learn Niagara I clicked 3d vfx courses obviously and there is plantohra of 3d courses with no skill structures or order....Ok now I see Uncreal Engine 5 niagara block in Vfx level one...ok great I found something what is level 2 and then do I need to do Intro to materials unreal engine 5 or not etc etc. I think please make a structure like Linked in or Coursera style...for example make a Niagara learning path like Niagra level 1 2 and 3 in this fashion. I hope I have tried my best to explain the concept and please keep these workshop and bootcamps away from the coruses section. Please visit sites like codeacademy, datacamp, pluralsight, Linkedin leanrning to get the idea. Don't get me wrong and tanks for the amazing content I am big fan of your work just the site needs bit of order thank you. All the best.

It's seems pretty much like additive vs subtractive colors. The computer is using additive colors of light, while the pigments in the flower are subtractive. With light, yellow is red+green, and purple is red+blue. Adding all three primaries together will make grays/blacks. With the pigments, yellow, magenta, and cyan are your primaries, with magenta essentially being the absence of green. The yellow mixes with magenta a bit making it less green and more orange, and the cyan mixes with the magenta making it more purple.
