Thank you for letting us tag along on your scenic adventure! We’ve only been to Moab once, but realized we need to return and see more of the surrounding area. We’re not off road enthusiasts, but certainly see the appeal having driven the Schafer Trail/Potash Road from Canyonlands down to Moab. Your video had so much really good footage, that we want to look at doing the other trails on this video.

SEMA is on my bucket list as well. Glad the wheel coming off wasn’t any worse. I had all of the lug bolts fail on my Jetta and my wheel came off going down I-95. Loosing your wheel on the highway is no fun for sure. I do the “fold over” when I make caso-pizzas.

I know three other "overlanders" (overloaders) who had this happen on their Gladiators. Apparently they get loaded so heavy and/or tow so much, well beyond specs (especially GVWR), that the rear axle eventually fails. The lucky one only had the wheel studs break off. It takes a while, but the results are the same. They SHOULD be using full sized trucks to handle that much mass. A modified Wrangler (or really any mid-sized truck, like a Tacoma) isn't going to be able to handle the weight of all that gear, but people just don't get it.
@CoddiwompleOverland4 күн бұрын
Yea we do tend to get a little heavy. However I don't feel like this was the case. As you probably watched in a previous video, we were hit in the same tire that had the axle failure. The axle was changed but the housing was not. The axle and bearing that failed had less than 25,000 miles on it. So I believe the real culprit was an ever so slightly bent axle housing As far as over and towing capacity, we are below specs and the trailers that we tow are just over half of the Gladiator's tow rating. I do "get it". Thanks for watching!
@VideosOffRoad4 күн бұрын
@CoddiwompleOverland I did not see the video where you got hit. That could definitely play a big role in this particular failure. Having said that, I have seen many Gladiators that were far over GVWR and 3 had rear axle problems, surely because they were operating well outside specifications. The owners just didn't care to pay attention to the specs at all. I am extremely happy they had the exact rear axle you needed on hand, allowing you to very quickly get back on your adventure.

I went to the end and then shot left up that insane hill! It was super sketchy but I made it on 40’s & a 6 1/2 inch lift on my Gladiator. Do not do this unless you are built like me. There was a massive tree down at the top where an open hunting field is so I had to back all the way down. I noticed a hunter with an orange toboggan on on the other side of the hunting field, so I decided not to use my chainsaw to cut that log. Such an amazing area with so many trails to get lost in.

I figured the next trip you would need to have a Lexus and Teton X trailer instead of a Jeep and Mission Overland trailer. 🤪🤪. The Lexus seemed nice and probably will get 90% of the people where they want to go. Just a bunch of money to mob down the trail; so, many probably will never see the trail.

They probably won't. In the end, we ended up still in our Gladiator and we are now back in the TetonX

It's always a shame when you see a new GX 5550 OT without the available Rock Rails, if you get an OT, get with the Rock Rails.... anyone Know why these are on such back order, they still have 24 models in Build faze that wont arrive until 2025. Plus they are mostly all sold. In the used car market they going for 10k over window sticker and then some..... Saw an OT plus for 105K, some for 95K with like 5K miles.. yup no! I will wait, but I do want one bad!!
