I want to be able to have NPC crew supplement player crew. I eventually want to take an Idris with NPC crew overseeing hangar operations (refuel/rearm/repair), doing small repairs, cleaning the ship, and maybe even a few turret gunners, while my friends and I man the bridge. I want a player to be able to assume a lead engineer role over a small team of NPC crew. I want NPCs to take the turrets if I can't get enough friends to man them. I want some NPC marines stationed on the ship to act as cannon fodder for a boarding party and slow them down while my friends and I maneuver through the corridors to hopefully fend them off and get the kills. Everyone keeps thinking of NPC vs player crew as an all-or-nothing affair, and I don't understand why. If I can only get 3 or 4 friends on a given day, I'd still like to be able to take a big ship out and kick ass with them in. Or from an org perspective, it would make sense to take a capital ship out on patrol with an NPC crew with the possibility for org mates to log in and man stations on short notice.
@BuzzCutPsycho15 сағат бұрын
I agree with you, they should make the NPCs more integrated, with more "roles" than just pilot/gunner.

I've been a backer for a long time, but I barely play the game currently. Every now and then, I'll check in, see what's going on, play around just a little bit, and back off. My approach is "wait and see" (with a pretty large emphasis on waiting, but that's besides the point). I hear lately that people are angry about master modes, and after watching several videos on the matter, no one even explains what it is, and I don't feel like reinstalling the game right now. But whatever, I care less about how the game is now, and care more about how the game will be years from now. So I'm browsing KZbin, and see this combat ship tier list done by someone named Avenger One. I figure let's check it out. As I'm watching, something's just not making sense with his list as he ranked all the combat ships as trash, listed tiny racing ships as being top tier, and I noticed he seemed very defensive around his reasoning. He also sounded like a dick, but that's besides the point. It kind of had me wondering if something's going really wrong with Star Citizen if this is the kind of tier list people are making for it. According to this guy, no matter how good I'd get in a heavy fighter, I would get trounced by someone good in a Razor or something. I don't want that kind of bullshit in my space sim. Lo and behold, the KZbin algorithm later recommended your videos to me, and after watching this one, Avenger's video is now starting to make a lot more sense to me.

We do know how game universe instances (shards) are going to work in Star Citizen, they have explained it. An instance of the game is a separate game universe that players cannot traverse between, a shard is a collection of game servers with their own support servers ergo it is it's own instance of the game, an exact copy of the game universe in each instance or shard. They do plan to eventually have a single shard instance for all players but that won't come for many years (if at all) due to real world signal travel time limitations and global network backbone hardware limitation. So there will be regional instances of the game universe for a long time to come. What they are talking about is making some game features 'cross shard', so the activity in one shard affects all shards. This uses the persistence database to share that data between all shards, since it is a global database that feeds data to all shards. If you build a base in a particular location on your shard, then other players in other instances of the game universe cannot use that same real estate to build a base. Your base is represented in all shards as well as your own. In shards where no-one is supposed to have access to your base then it will be locked / protected on that shard even though you can physically see it in all instances. For non-fixed game assets like ships etc there will be no cross shard instancing. Like you I am also very concerned about area domination by organisations, to put it bluntly I did not support this project for 12 years and around $9000 for it to be area dominated by the likes of Goonswarm because it then becomes an arms race where that arms race takes up the majority of the resources and since resources are physicalised in Star Citizen that also means anyone who wants that level of resource gathering has to control the real estate where those resources are located. In non-UEE space anyone who discovers a deposit of resources will have to defend that location from much larger groups who have the resources to take your resources. In UEE controlled spaces they say this won't be possible, but we have yet to see the details of how that is going to work. They have vaguely talked about planetary shields and base shields, as well as an ever escalating NPC AI law enforcement spawning , this brings it's own problem of magic inflation of resources, since NPC ships and assets once supplied into the game universe are then available outside of the location based resource gathering, it becomes a virtually infinite resource. You can salvage NPC ships and game assets for as long as you can match those arrayed against you. ie What doesn't kill you only makes you stronger - quite literally. Picking a fight with the game becomes the most efficient predictable way to gather more and more resources. Why go exploring for resources when you can make the game bring those resources to you? The game, or at least very large sections of the game universe, become permanent war zones because it is advantageous to very large organisations to have it that way.
@merclordКүн бұрын
I think CIG should have a PTU special event specifically to test all of this. Allow 2 large orgs to have instant access to enough resources to build their own base and fight over these end-game tokens. Collect the data, figure out what's wrong with it and fix it.

What can we glean from that? 1) all military components are being taken off the market, so you won't be able to buy them. 2) ship piracy with a focus on disable and dismantle for the resale of components will become huge as a consequence. For this reason, distortions will become very necessary and desired weapons, and this new increase in their percieved value reflects that expectation.

The decisions CIG has made in the past year (across the board) are so bad that its hard for me to accept that they're all unfortunate accidents. So I got to thinking - if I was Chris, and I realized (grudgingly or not) that my vision for this game was simply not possible, for whatever reasons, I would crank out changes that would quickly make the game a sad failure, so that I could escape the entire situation with a legit bankruptcy (and have it happen before I reach retirement age). Late to the party, but ... yes, this year's IAE ships were a boring selection, or wouldn't work with the way I want to play (FWIW, I have a top-hat & monocle, so ... this year's ships were dull). Join a larger crew ? Well, I do so because I want a social experience. But do I want to sit in a turret for a two-hour session going where the pilot chooses -nah, socializing is better value to me, I want to drive, and I'd be happier flying a heavy fighter, or a Freelancer. (Yeah, I'm weird like that, preferring the Freelancer MAX to the Zeus CL). Master modes? I didn't like them when they were introduced, but am neutral now. Are they 'realistic', even for a space game? No, Elite Dangerous does space combat better.

The way everything now costs more, i have about 27m AUEC and with a wipe coming, which is fine, it'll probably take 3 years to get another 27 in the state the game is now. the reality is SC is now the LAST game i would EVER think to play to unwind after a long day - SC IS a LONG day on it's own... it's crap.

I Love and hate Star Citizen . Now I am a newbie still learning 1 week in playing hours every day. I hate the time wasted re equipping your ship and character every time, especially because your ship blew up running into an unseen object at 2m/s with shields on. With engineering and having to replace parts, i saw a game that is a lot more of a struggle..... Then they've increased rewards for missions and grinding them. I feel that will negate a lot of it, just devaluing the starting UEC on a player account. I hope we get nearer to a struggle going forward, but i worry it won't happen in case of upsetting players.

You don't even realise probably how much these rants about "useless ballistics" exposes player incompetence :) Have you ever tried to pvp Connie solo in a medium fighter, like Hornet? Try it with Attritions and then repeat with "useless ballistic repeaters" setup. Depending on Connie pilot competence time to kill difference will be 6+ times in favor of ballistics.
@BuzzCutPsycho2 күн бұрын
I wish you were correct but having tried running full ballistics in AC on pre-nerf corsair it was only good against bigger ships. Smaller ships with laser weapons just beat ya down from range.
@alexpetrov88712 күн бұрын
@@BuzzCutPsycho >it was only good against bigger ships This is exactly what ballistics is useful for - to k. ships with big shields and small hull. C2 or Starfarer is a perfect target, TTK will be multiple times less comparing to lasers. Pvp is not AC dogfighting only. I may be was rude, but I found many of your statements in this video a bit out of reality. Forgetting one thing: most of the higher end stuff has been shifted to Contested Zones, and removed from shops. Mostly components but i believe some weapons as well. This all looks to be a piecemeal balance pass overall. They're not done and they're operating with a final design goal that we cannot see. So all of this is going to see further revisions as more of the game's actually built past 4.0. 4.0 being all about Server Meshing, the new foundation.
