Such a good decision making framework!! I personally always thought of it as “what would I be most content with on my deathbed when looking back at life”. It also often results in motivation to make positive changes in life in addition to more explicit decisions, like: 1. Spending time with people I love to build our connection, especially older ones who won’t be around for as long. 2. Talking to strangers and making new connections 3. Exercising for the sake of seeing what heights we can reach in life!

Yes! 'What would I be most content with on my deathbed when looking back at life?' This is similar to what I meant to say in this video. When I have to make a decision about whether to go for something or not, it can feel overwhelming. But, when I view it from the perspective of myself on my deathbed or in my elderly years, it helps to see things from a different angle. Thank you for sharing your thoughts :)

Just in time! I’m turning 18 this year in August, and I already feel the pressure of having to decide what I want to do (career wise). I feel like I know what I want to do, but then again I’m still not so sure. A lot of anxiety is brewing in the start of the year. College, job (I work part time), living, relationships. There are some things I’m limited to due to medical reasons. But I hope I can find some way to figure it all out. I was never good with making decisions.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Turning 18 is such a big step, and it’s normal to feel overwhelmed with all the decisions ahead. It’s okay not to have everything figured out. Most people don’t! You don’t need to have all the answers right away. I still don’t know my answer about my life 😅 Remember to be kind to yourself, especially with the limitations you mentioned due to medical reasons. It’s important to pace yourself. Sending you lots of positive energy 😊✨

Hi, how are you? Usually, every time I have a big decision, I like to write down the pros and cons on paper, and then I start looking at the cons first and working on each idea. Usually, by doing this, I see that it's not a 7-headed monster and that I'll be able to achieve it.

Odd take but for me, as long as I say the key words (and tone and context) correctly, they will understand what I'm saying. Might be a problem if the person never heard my accent before though. So if it's presentation or public speaking, I need to self aware that I better pronounce more correct words.

Hmm, I don’t think it’s a good idea to start a relationship just to "improve" your target language. To me, it feels a bit sad to do that. I prefer trying to build a genuine connection with the person. I have two different stories related to this topic: 1 - Today, a man started speaking to me, probably because he guessed my nationality. He began speaking in my native language and is basically fluent in it. He explained that his wife is Brazilian and said his goal wasn’t to learn the language, it just happened cuz he loves her. 2 - I have a friend who learned most of his vocabulary and pronunciation to connect with his ex-girlfriend. She’s British, and he fell in love with her. Unfortunately their relationship didn’t work out, cuz she had to return to the UK, but he made significant progress in his english during the tume he was with her. Basically, my opinion is that if you start a relationship with someone, do it because you genuinely have feelings!!! Ps: Good to see you have posted videos again! : )

She's back, It's great to have you back! I don't have experience dating someone who speaks another language, but I do have an opinion. I think starting a relationship just to improve your language skills can lead to problems. The person might become too dependent on the other, which can hurt both the learning process and the relationship itself. For a relationship to work, it should be based on feelings and respect, not just external goals.

Hi! In my experience, the most important factor was finding someone who created a smooth and natural communication vibe, someone I genuinely enjoyed talking to. This naturally helped me speak more fluently, even with a limited vocabulary. I received some help along the way, and it pushed me to pick up new words organically within the context of our conversations. Talking to myself wasn't very effective for me; I personally needed the interaction with another person. For this, I trained myself to grasp new words/sentence structures by myself with the following way. >> The way I practiced my speaking skills was like this. I used to transcribe everything said in the video, repeating each sentence after I heard it, no matter how easy/difficult the sentence is. I tried to mimic them, checked some new phrasal verbs/words/expressions, and looked up the meaning of them. I was sometimes able to practice only 5 sentences for like 30 minutes to1 hour as my vocab and listening skills were not good enough so it took some time to master even 1 sentence. I enjoyed this whole process though, cause I was just enjoying myself speaking English itself. With this way, I could naturally acquire the correct and right way to say the sentences.

I can understand second Russian, which is my best second language since early childhood. I can understand German, which I started learning at school. My third language is English, which I never learned or spoke until I moved to Ireland for work at the age of 34. On my first day, I understood some Irish too clearly for anyone to believe that I had never been exposed to English before... Something magical happened that day. English is my third language, which I can understand from natives, but not all dialects of it.

That's so fascinating! It's interesting how our brains can absorb information even when we're not actively trying to learn. It's amazing how much you were able to understand intuitively before consciously learning the rules.

@@hunji._ I read about language learning. Child speaks first word in his mother tongue and then under the control of parents (mostly) he needs up to 7 years until he goes to school to make this base of language in his long term memory and school he learns these grammar rules which has built on these words. Before rules he needs meaning of words... With second language this process goes faster instead of 7 years child need up to 1-2 years. I forgot how to learn any of my leanguage in childhood, but this how to have written teory about languages. With English I did not have the meaning of the words. This was my problem. I do not know what is the crucial aspect of my work of learning to give my mind this meaning of English words. I have been speaking broken English for many years. The problem for many learners is new, unfamiliar words in the language. My mind was empty of English words. I am not sure how that happened, and another person will do the same thing I did with a language that has only sounds in my head. Reading books is good for engraving this meaning of words in the brain.
