i was married to a Filipina for 39 years, before her death. I tried to learn Tagalog and made good progress. We moved to Hawaii where most Filipinos are Ilocano. I tried to learn Ilocano, very difficult. We moved back to Florida, and most of our Church is Visyan. I gave up and went back to Filipino. I still get the grammar confused. the in and um and in and mga and ang still confuse me. I love the Philippines and Filipino people. BTW Akoy puting Americano.\

The fact of the matter is, a lot of people that I am around including myself (I am a younger Gen Z so still in High School) don't have much if anything that we are really interested in and nothing really gives us a feeling of meaning. Its depressing because when we are told advice like at the end of the video to just focus on what we love and what gives us meaning we have nothing.

Why is Gen Z quietly giving up? I'll tell you why! - People know there being f*cked over from all angles, It's a system that thrives off debt. Thrives off your misery of being a wage slave just so you can go home and pay bills and wake up to repeat it all over again without any hope of breaking the cycle.....

I understand his wish to connect on a deeper level. I was born and raised in the Netherlands but my dad was Indonesian and my mother Swedish. We spoke Dutch at home, but I did pick up Swedish as a child, because my mom spoke Swedish with my older sister and we went to Sweden almost every summer. Unfortunately, I forgot how to speak it by the time I got in my teens, but could still understand pretty well. Never learned Bahasa Indonesia (Indonesian), though. It's still on my bucket list to brush up on my Swedish and learn basic Bahasa Indonesia. If I had done so earlier, my relationship with my parents would have been even better, I imagine.

I've found your account one hour ago, and usually I do not write comments. But I have to say, that your videos are incredible. Your videos have a really high quality, they're creative, so emotional, so fun, have so helpful and meaningful information. I like how you change from sad deep emotions to humour scenes. And when you said that being on KZbin is a thing to fear, an uncomfortable situation, you triggered me really. Because often you see people online, influencers, creators who make wonderful content and you are thinking they are not afraid, they are outgoing, it is easy for them. But like you said, it is not easy :)

KZbin algorithm sent me here, and I'm so thankful it did! I cannot relate enough to this video, Both my parents are filippino and I was born in Australia, growing up and having travelled to phillippines as a kid on multiple occasions with parents, i always found myself as not filippino enough, and on the alternative when im in australia, i felt too asian and an outsider to my australian peers. So, since i mainly grew up in australia, I found myself trying my hardest to "fit in" with my australian cohort not realising that I've turned my back towards my heritage. I could always understand tagalog but similar to yourself could never speak it, till now I can only put small sentences together. The idea of "Not filippino" enough really hit home for me, this whole video has inspired me to take my own journey to do better and learn tagalog too. So..thank you for sharing! Ps. This video was really well put together, the editing the transitions all really clean! Subscribed!

being filipino is not just about language, a real filipino is someone who loves their own country and they are proud about it, who loves their own products. I'm proud of you bro you have shown determination to learn tagalog keep improving, so you and your mom can have a conversation in tagalog. and that boy who called you a "wannabe" is stupid

The energy has shifted. Nothing feels solid, like something you can trust, and it started to accelerate 10, 15, even 40 years ago, depending on which metric you choose. To all our sweet young people, I would say, none of this is on you. The crap hitting the fan relative to our political Institutions, to Inequality, to ugliness, and what's coming spiritually to force our hands is bigger than all of us. Stay connected to real people, to nature, to art, to your own soul, as best you can. Many older people have your back and we're going through this right along with you.

There's one valuable lesson I learned here as a Filipino mom: not to laugh when my kid is trying. He tries so damn hard to speak Bisaya (his father's dialect) and Hiligaynon (mine) and I would laugh at the accent 'cause he sounded so American trying to learn the language. :( I get it now why he had a hard time learning. He's better now though, thanks to his teachers at school. To other kids, they would impose the strict "English Only" policy. To my son, they made an exception of talking only in Bisaya.

Did you learn French in 30 days? Jokes like this can be harmful. They create false expectations, leading people to try, fail, and then feel inadequate. Videos like this do a disservice to viewers.

this made me realize how much I want to learn mongolian, as my mom was born in mongolia, and she always would speak mongolian to her friends, but I only know words and phrases in mongolian rather than the whole language. I want to learn mongolian, but like you, there is some sort of barrier that stops me. This video, actually has inspired me to attempt to learn, so for that, thank you.

Gen Alpha fella here, I have problems with kids around my age (12-14 year-ish). I have distanced myself from them, simply because I see them as "weird" or "dumb". After some time of starving myself of any social contact (Aside from my parents who are trying to understand me.). I start iternally and sometimes literally screaming at the mention of slangs like: Rizz, Skibidi toilet, Fanun tax, sigma, ect... And I hate myself for just existing in this god-awful generation that has such a bad reputation. I restrict myself from hearing out ANYTHING Gen Alpha related, something that is hyper-edited and popular with Gen Z and Gen Aplha. (For example: Tik Tok) And for that, I overwork myself to look better in comparison to those suckers who have a brainrot problems in their little, tiny brains. I overdo things at school, (Excluding homework) I attempt to make the teachers happy that they have a student who actually cares about listening to them and actually taking notes AND preparing for tests. If you make the math and count all the things I have just mentioned. You have a mentally tired, unfit kid with behaviour issues, that has all the talent, that can be easily phychologically hurt with simple words.
