Well this potentially saved me some $$$, there are couplers that you can screw into wood but they're like $10 each, with this method I can get the normal ones for around $4-5 and I can always add epoxy if I'm worried it's not strong enough or make it go all the way through and bolt it from the top

@Oak & Alloy What size drill bit did you use and did you have difficulty screwing the coupler into the board, due to it not being a wood screw? Any tips on how to do it easily?

Where did you get the router sled? Was that a HDEP mold? Did you make it or bought. Beautiful how many grits did you sand it to?
@oakalloy41872 жыл бұрын
I actually made the router sled and the HDPE mold. There's no need for mold release when using HDPE, the epoxy won't stick to it. I sanded up to 220g on this one 👍

Is that a HDEP mold? Where did you get it if so.Did you spray it first with mold release? Beautiful

What is the purpose of the black bar you attached before the legs?
@oakalloy41873 жыл бұрын
Wooden tables like this can have a tendency to warp with the seasons. The c channel just helps keep everything flat for years to come 👍 Thanks for watching!

Did you want the epoxy to be so dark? It doesn't look very transparent. I love every other aspect of the piece, though!
@oakalloy41873 жыл бұрын
I actually sent a few black samples to the client and this is what she decided on. I think personally I would have liked it a little more transparent too! Thanks for watching! 👍

Do you glue or epoxy the connectors into the holes?
@oakalloy41874 жыл бұрын
They have threads on one end so I actually could thread them straight into the wood without any glue or epoxy 👍
@philballard64492 жыл бұрын
What size drill bit did you use?
@thriftyhomediy2 жыл бұрын
@@philballard6449 I used a 12mm spade drill bit, didn't have a 12mm drill bit, it was hard to get it to screw in at first, so give it a little wiggle with the spade bit, it screw in nicely.
@philballard64492 жыл бұрын
@@thriftyhomediy Thank you for your reply. I ended up using a 7/16 drill bit and also tried a 7/16 tap and both worked okay but not great. It took a while but I got most of them fairly straight. Screwing a standard thread bolt into wood is a bit of a challenge but well worth the effort. The project really turned out nicely.
