Hi Deephack, thanks for all your nice vids ! Regarding the Harrier aren't cluster bombs currently totally unusable? From the forums it seems ED's recent changes to fuzing are the culprit, as they are not correctly implemented in the Harrier ofc due to the issues with Razbam.. Recently finished the excellent Kerman campaign and had to swap the cluster weapons with other stuff... I also have the impression the auto/CCRP bombing has become much less accurate which was echoed on some reddit page, but not yet raised on the forums (I think)..cheers !

The "Mult" setting does just one burst of flares and/or chaff. The "Program" setting does the whole salvo. Since there is no salvo count setting for flares, just one burst of flares is released in "Program" setting.
@kontiuka8 күн бұрын
For some reason, you can't put 15 flares on the jet. Only 14 or 30. It's a bug but Aerges has told me that it is not that simple a fix. They need ED to help with it.

Hi. You actually can control the CM settings from the plane as long as you are on the ground with the canopy open and the engine off. RCtrl-Numpad 0 to go to snap view. Then Numpad-5 to go to the CM panel behind the pilot's seat. In the F1BE, it's even easier. You can set the CM settings from the back seat.
@deephack8 күн бұрын
Now that is a top tip. The manual said that it was behind the seat but I could find no way to get the view around to that position. Thank you very much for that. I'll make a bonus video about this soon.

To suggest a 339 "trainer" was "never" equipped with sidewinders is disingenuous. The MB-339B demonstrator was shown with Magic 550 and AIM-9 sidewinders in 1984 at Farnborough. AFAIK more modern MB-339CD's can carry sidewinders but have modernised cockpit/avionics which would take a full/new DCS module to model.

They are far from "running out of" 3rd and 4th gen airplanes to add. You don't need to go into "prototype only" like the F-20. A-7, A-6, F-8, Tornado, Buccaneer, Mirage III, Mig-23, Mig-25, Su-17/22, the entire "Century Series", Q-5, J-8, F-111, not to mention all the bombers, transports, recon.... plus more warbirds.
@JonBloor710 күн бұрын
Hi Jim! Let me clarify. We never said you "have" to go into prototype only aircraft. It's an interesting topic and ultimately up to any developer to follow through with. We used the F-20 Tigershark purely as an example to reflect against a developing DCS airframe like the J-8 Peace Pearl. Other than the F-111, everything you've mentioned there - A-7 Corsair (Flying Iron), A-6 (Heatblur), F-8 (Magnitude 3), Tornado (AviaStorm), J-8 (Deka), MiG-23 (Shrodingers module at the moment with the current Razbam drama) and Su-17/22 (OctopusG) have all been taken by 3rd parties and are under development - as have the Century series F-100 (Grinelli) and F-104 (Aerges). Warbirds are also not "3rd or 4th gen". Mig-25 is still very much a hot topic due to cooled relations with Russia. This has limited what can be developed on both sides of the lines, as documentation and data is either unavailable or far too sensitive to cover. So where else do you go? You then have to discuss what are financially viable options - what have most people heard of and are desirable? The further down the rabbit hole you go, the more obscure it gets, the higher a risk it is to invest into. ED have however stated, that 3rd parties are far less limited in developing certain airframes than they are. Also with foreign sales operators, you might get easier get access (Mig-29A is a great example, with the Slovak version being used for scanning). I think that's possibly the solution.

The Vietnam and Korean war era really needs to be the focus. Getting those models and Combined arms polished for that era would set up DCS and ED for decades. Its the theatre of war that everyone seems to gravitate toward.

@ Korea and Vietnam? Absolutely. Combined arms? Meh. I don’t want this turning into War Blunder either……
@DonzeJ10 күн бұрын
@simtaylor61 Combined arms (as I view it) is really more about in depth scenario control. I don't care for the idea of a bunch of COD and Adderall fuels brains wreaking havoc on a server. More so that real time manipulation by server moderators and more in-depth scenario building would be important to attract people to the game. A lot of people view DCS as not a game but more of a Microsoft flight simulator with guns. Combined arms, if done right, would create a more attractive scenario overall and allow for greater replay value as scenarios evolve differently every time.

To the joining of maps comment; as long as we’re in a flat/square map that is going to be problematic for these large maps. The curvature of the earth really takes affect at those geographic areas, and which would make it impossible to match up existing projections, particularly for modern aircraft with precise navigational systems and targeting pods. Perhaps an option to teleport to approximately location on adjacent terrain would work, but that would introduce all sorts of other complications for missions.
