It’s amazing but he’s just playing benson licks and misses the groove. It must feel hollow for him. Very talented player but needed season by playing with veterans and get out of the imitative phase. Benson started out imitating great but playing this and of gigs with veterans he found his own style. Super impressive oberg is.

I have loved this video for years. Armand Hirsch is too hard on himself here! The comping is incredible and his solo was so tasteful. Don't compete with Julian on the lines it's impossible! I loved the chord solo, voicings, melodic themes

Love the whole thing. I can’t really hear Stella until about 9:19. Is he playing a more abstract rendition before then, or is it all intro until then? In any case, it’s all beautiful

Check out Kiko at andertons with Lee. It’s wonderful, kiko is. Guthrie too. Both great interview episodes. I want to hear kiko and Guthrie play more, including them talking about music together. These guys are so freaking great. And lari Basilio, who is also so gorgeous in addition. She has everything going at once, superhuman superhottie sweetheart music monster. Thanks Brazil.

Look at his hands, at moments it seems GG might have killed Inigo Montoya’s father. Actually it was Nigel from Spinal Tap, somewhat literally. These go to eleven. My plum pro junior goes to twelve. Two louder.

Well we have all known for a long while that GG is a legit wizard, yes at the guitar but also teaching and explanation and inspiration, and this video has incredible tone, no fizz, gravel not sand down the slide. Very evocative, one moment I’m thinking Les Paul into Marshall chewy crunchy seventies Billy gibbons and mh flirting with disaster and allman bros rip dickey and Derek slide tones, then he rolled back the tone on the neck HB clean and I got the smooth jazz tone from the Walgreens phone line waiting music. He’s so good, his music is prismatic, but he can even make wordless humor! Now that i think of it, I need to get a GG poster or tshirt for the inspiration. Also, I have a 2012 factory special run American special satin nitro strat that I love, I always wonder if fender sprayed the body in Mexico before bringing it to Corona for assembly. For whatever reason they are quite easy to find online and pricing hasn’t gotten too inflated. It has big fat frets and is so comfy for everything, especially bending and leads. I highly recommend it stock with its American standard pickups, or as a modding platform, or even as a Guthrie inspired instrument if you don’t want to shell out for a suhr or charvel gg, or settle for a Harley Benton or iyv gg copy, although I’d imagine the latter might surprise as more affordable guitars can these days. Censtar, a brand I’ve only seen on Amazon (US) has an HSH that seems gg suhr inspired, edge burst and all minus the rear routed trem system, got it in one of those random daily discount deals sub $200, and damn it’s a great guitar, not just for the price, but in sound feel and vibe. Lastly, I must have grown up without fancy heirloom furniture, bc people calling pretty guitars furniture pretty is opposite for me. I gutted and rehabbed my house and chose maple cabinetry in the bathrooms with a medium caramel stain. To my surprise and delight, there are many sections of beautifully figured maple, and I think, hey that look would be sexy on a guitar. Is it true that curly maple necks are less stable? Bc I love the look. I love satin finish for feel and looks, similarly to how I like roasted maple, or caramelized, baked, torrified, or whatever whoever calls it. I’ve always wanted to be a one awesome guitar man and just focus on making music, but I’m compulsive and now have so many guitars of all types I’ve lost count, from $89 Amazon strat to a many $G custom Alembic and many in between. 25.5” scale humbucker 24 fret guitars are my jahm, stacking some drive of the day with a tube screamer into a squishy compressor post drive with ambient effects and a looper into an edge of breakup tube amp, simple like a pro junior, Carmen ghia, Victoria Ivy League. All I need. And spring water. And beefsteak. And premium flower. And friends. And KZbin. And pretty women. Got high and rambled. Oops.
