Many thanks for your comment, Gilbert. It was shot on my Canon C100 mk2 in HD C-log. Then edited, color graded, and upscaled to UHD with Super Scale, in DaVinci Resolve Studio. All the sound was recorded on my Zoom H2n which has a decent deadcat on it, needed that day as it was very windy. The sound of the gulls came from my sound fx library, and the footsteps of the running boy are foley edited to fit. The soundtrack was mixed in Pro Tools.

Great video, but I do love to hear the trains and not the music
@UKHeritageRailways
@UKHeritageRailways 4 ай бұрын
There are the sounds of the train mixed in with the music. On the outward journey there are no locomotive sounds to be heard and very little track noise. On the DMU section the music is hiding the conversations of the people on the train so you are not missing anything. All the footage where there is locomotive action there is no music. What are you listening to the video on?

Took my son Mathew there several times when he was younger and on one occasion while watching the steam engine take on water it spilled over onto the tracks to which he instantly said look Daddy it’s having a wee wee. Never laughed so much as did everyone around us.A great preserved line to visit and must go back sometime and believe it or not he still remembers it to this day and he’s nearly 30.

What a lovely video! We live at no.7, one of the cottages in the middle, set back from the road! I found a book a few years go about the Aylesbury Railway and branch line to Cheddington, but otherwise have found very little information or photos, so it's wonderful to see your video. It would be amazing if you had anything else to share and any information on the middle cottages and why they are different from the terraced ones, any old photos would be great! A couple of years ago, a chap in his 80s dropped round and knocked on our door, he said his name was John Tomey and he used to live in our house back in the 40s/50s onwards when he was a little boy. We invited him in for a cuppa and chatted for a few hours. He said his early memories were of the war and seeing only women on Broughton Crossing because the men had been sent off to fight. Lovely chap, I wonder if you or your family know him?

It's wonderful to hear from another resident, and I'm glad you like the video. Unfortunately John Tomey doesn't ring a bell. Like the second world war the men also went to fight in the first. in the picture it is my great aunt, Nellie Hall nee Stevens, actually holding my father in around 1914. Her husband was in the Royal Veterinary Corps so was away looking after the army's horses .

@UKHeritageRailways Жыл бұрын
That's very kind of you to say so. Yes, it was originally silent, being shot on my standard 8 Quartz 5 movie camera. That's me in the yellow jumper aged 17. The two shots of me were shot by Peter Middleton, a Thames TV cameraman who, along with his brother whom I worked with, had gone to Walsall for that event. He later set up Video 125 making drivers eye view videos. I became a recording engineer specializing in audio post, and the soundtrack was done in my own studio, which I still have and use for my current videos.
