The military Hummer. Miss it. Fun facts. The nickname Hummer comes from the humming nose a convoy of hummers make. Sounds like a gigantic wasp....awesome. HMMWV means Highly Mobile Multi-Wheeled Vehicle.

Having a turbo, it must be extremely efficient... Cost...???
@bart6722 ай бұрын
I would say it's efficiency with a turbo is most pronounced during use under load. It's 2.0 liter turbo motor uses less fuel per hour as opposed to a larger motor with no turbo, that will use more fuel per hour pushing the same load. Cost for these units range about $6-8000 in super clean usable condition, or less for a beat one off GovPlanet. Thanks for watching.

Good lookin 998, I had a 1989? (I don’t remember the year anymore) but I drove the piss out of it and the only issue I had which I can’t blame on the humvee is the push button headlight switch burnt out. I definitely miss having a humvee and am gonna buy another for sure.
@bart6724 ай бұрын
Nice. If you do get another HMMWV, try to get a 4 speed truck. M998 are all 3 speeds, and an extra gear makes a big difference on the highway. What I can say for 998's is that they are the best for off-roading due to their softer springs and more flex compared to the newer units.
@eastcoastford.1844 ай бұрын
@@bart672yea I had a M1025a2 slant back that had the 4 speed and it rode soooo well. I didn’t mind the 3 speed in the 998’s but yea when I got the slantback with the 4 speed I was absolutely sold on it. Hey nice truck I have one just like it…. question for you… can I change out the hood for an older one ??? and remove the big radiator as well.
@bart6724 ай бұрын
Hi. The short answer is yes for sure you can. The "no" answer would be if you have a REV truck with the geared fan drive cooling.. So if you are and ECV truck with an extended snout, it is a bit more involved than just the radiator and hood. You will need a non ECV cooling stack complete with the transmission oil cooler and power steering cooler bar attached (from a M998 or other non ECV) You will need stack mounting bars from 998. You will also need the headlight wiring harness from the shorter hood. I do believe the connectors are the same tho, and should plug in... Additionally, you will need non ECV hood mounts from 998. You'll need to ditch the longer ECV frame extensions, and then you'll be needing an M998 or other non ECV bumper plate to bolt up correctly. Don't forget the gaskets on the hood for your ECV lifting hooks... So yes you can but somewhat of a pain, but I understand some folks don't like the extended snout look.
@tduncan99384 ай бұрын
Man that is awesome information!! so glad I emailed you… so what I wanna do is change out the motor to a Duramax anyway… so really just the short wires and the bumper plate??

@bart6724 ай бұрын
@@rudyrw4146 mmph. Can't be a true H1 because they all start with a "1". I don't know what state you are in, so what I know is all California based...however, if it is a true 17 digit vin, it should compute on a carfax or should also be identifiable through ANY insurance company if you call them for a quote on it.... they'll tell you what it is. To me, it sounds like an "assigned" vin number from whatever state you are in... Just know that California WILL NOT let it in even if it is titled out of state-
