The opening is more complicated than your presentation. But, you do discuss several options. I feel that Gangi is very flexible and can be used with many opening sequences. There are also some other things like irregular Bishop Exchange sequences (probably not seen by pros now but you saw them in the 1980s & 1990s) and a sort of reverse Bishop Exchange openings (and cases where the player can reject the bishop exchange and just convert to a Gangi opening).

Thanks for the comment. Yes, you are right. The opening is more complicated. I was just going to make it simple for the new players. Because shogi itself is enough complicated and hard to study especially for non japanese people. And yes, Gangi is useful and becoming popular strategy. In fact, the number of Gangi games were bigger than Yagura in this year. Gangi is really flexible as you said, and shogi engine prefer it than strong castle.

Thank you for the explanation!! At my level I've tried it, but after the first moves, all gets confuse and messy for me (a low kyu player). Could this strategy be a way to have sennichite for pro players who aren't confident playing as sente/gote?
@shogiramentv64
@shogiramentv64 4 күн бұрын
Thanks for the comment! Don’t worry. Understanding level is same as mine. The steps are really messy. About sennichite, Takumi Ito found a way to sennichite against Sota Fujii and Ito succeeded it as gote. Ito achieved an award of the sennichite joseki. Of course sente can avoid it after this game. But there could be another sennichite. Conclusion point of view, shogi engine already found it as sente 100% win. So until human beings reach the conclusion, there could be sennichite.

@@shogiramentv64 I think that is really the goal of gote in Kakugawari. I think gote hopes to get sennichite, so that the game has to be replayed with sente and gote reversed.
@shogiramentv64

I don’t like sennichite even if I am gote. But for professional players they have to win or draw as a job. So yes, I agree with the goal of gote. In other strategies I haven’t seen the similar situation like Kakugawari. Probably it would be just from that professional players have not studied deeply yet.

Very interesting. I think I don't understand. You imply that professional players have to remember about 70 moves of joseki instead of 40, correct? Then why do you see players thinking for an hour or more early in the game? Don't they remember the joseki? Did the game deviate from the joseki? But that would mean that gote or sente did not play the joseki. Questions over questions :)
@shogiramentv64
@shogiramentv64 5 күн бұрын
Thanks for watching! If the professional player wants to play the joseki, yes he has to remember 70 moves. But 70 moves including too many branches, so it would be impossible for normal professional players. I guess only top pro like Fujii-san, Ito-san, Nagase-san could do. Once they agreed to play the joseki then 70 moves will pass in only few minutes. If someone spends more time, then he would want to deviate from the joseki or probably he forgot some details of branches and needed to examine them by his brain. About the number of moves in joseki, even if just each move has only 3 branches, the number would be 3 power to 70. Too many moves indeed xD

Great game! Can you explain why gote captures the silver on move 78? Can't he just ignore it and drop B'37, for example after Sx65 Bx26 P'64 S72 P'74, is the attack strong enough to compensate for a rook?
@shogiramentv64
@shogiramentv64 5 күн бұрын
Thanks for watching! Your understanding is correct. Dropping bishop and getting rook is a bit slow against Anaguma. I was thinking another option about S64 instead of capturing silver. Even gote did the defense, sente still will attack by Sx65. Steps will be S64, Sx65, Sx65, S66, P’64, Sx65, Px65, S’53. This is one example. So even if gote choose more defensive way, sente can attack by sacrificing silvers. After these comparisons, I think gote chose just capturing silver.

@vyli1
@vyli1 6 күн бұрын
@@shogiramentv64 TBH I also don't understand why it is a good move. Why not just go immediately with bishop to 46? Gote will still probably draw back his rook and go for the same line. And the king would still later on move to K-77. It seems like a wasted move TBH. To me at least it seems that that was the intention. To wait one move. Force the opponent to do something. Maybe I'm overlooking something. It is unbelievable move in that, I would never expect that to be the right move. And truth be told I'm still having hard time understand why this would be better than B-46. I'm a shodan at Shogi Wars and I don't get it 🙂 So it's too difficult at my level.
@shogiramentv64
@shogiramentv64 6 күн бұрын
@vyli1 Thanks for asking! If king just escaped immediately, gote’s rook can take a pawn at 85. This means gote can attack effectively by rook. But in the game, gote attacked by getting a pawn and dropped it to 84. Attack by pushing pawn from 84 was very slow and it needed to remove sente’s pawn at 85. This gave sente a chance to drop a pawn at 82. In addition gote got a pawn by losing his lance. This was also not good way and eventually countered from edge and game was over. So in my understanding why the king move was nice is that it looks so risky and it forced gote to focus on the attack. If Sota Fujii didn’t move his king, then gote would not attack to the king by risky way like losing his lance. I’m not sure I could share it with this explanation but I hope to share with someone.
@vyli1
@vyli1 6 күн бұрын
@@shogiramentv64 i am not saying king should escape immediately. I'm saying Fujii could have moved his bishop to B-46. Which he also played in the game one move later. And I'm not sure why not play this move immediately and why waste a move by moving the king to a square that doesn't seem to improve his position.

@@vyli1 As I explained in the video, the move of K86 is not the best move in the position. In fact shogi engine does not show us the K86 as best move. It must be bad move as AI point of view. And B46 must be better move than K86 as you said. However in the real game by humans point of view, the move of K86 was really nice move to trap to make gote focus on the attack to king soon. Because the king move looks really bad and almost of players would think they got a chance to win easily. This is the trap of Fujii's king move, and that's why I created this video to share how the move was unbelievable.

P2d looks nice attack but it would be risky. P2d means exchanging pawn and moving rook to 2d. N6e is strong attack when rook moved. After silver moved to 6f, knight can move to 5g. Silver cannon take the knight because your bishop will be taken by opponents bishop. That’s why G7h is necessary.
