Thank you for starting your journey even though non Japanese people. When I met you in Barcelona, you were around 6 kyu player but now you are already one Dan player! It must be interesting to talk about your journey to one Dan😁

thanks for making this, I’m always most interested in learning about the stories of players I admire

You’re welcome! They don’t speak stories in official situations but they could speak it in books. That’s why I’m buying Kifu books.

I have not have time for shogi videos or for playing but today I had a small break and this was a very interesting one to watch. Now I understand better when you said you are a kifu geek, indeed, those books look interesting! On another note, many times I watch your videos from mobile on headphones and even setting the volume to the maximum you speak so softly that noises in the street sometimes make it difficult to hear you 100%. Not sure if I'm the only one having this issue, but if you try it out and get the same experience as me you might consider recording the videos a bit louder (not necessary for you to speak more loudly, just to set the volume recording higher or something). Thanks again for a very interesting video!

Thank you for watching this video even though you have little time! Yes, I’m exactly the geek of kifu🤓 Thank you for the advice about volume. I’m checking sometimes it with other KZbinr videos. I couldn’t see big difference about volume but I know my pronunciation of English is not good and it will make listeners hard to hear the words. I think I don’t have still confidence about speaking English so my voice looks small and whispering. I think I need more training to speak English even if it’s difficult in Japan. Anyway thanks for watching and comments always!

Very interesting video, Oya-san. Your presentation skills are top notch. I think it would be interesting if from time to time you would dive into some older kifus from legendary player like Masuda-sensei. I didn't know Sato-san was Meijin at one point 😮 7:21 I didn't get the point. you mean that Fuji-san and Ito-san studied with an engine and that is what made them great? Combine the shogi coverage outside Japan (which is 0) with Shoreikai and its rules and you can be certain there will be no non-japanese shogi professional players in the upcoming future. Edit: As a minor suggestion - Everytime I watch your video, I have to turn the volume to max. Maybe you could adjust the sensitivity on your mic because as it is the volume is too low ;)

Thank you for the interesting comment always! I had done presentations in a company before started KZbin so it would help me to create this kind of presentation. Yes, your understanding at 7:21 is correct! Almost of professional players didn’t have shogi engine when they were starting shogi but young people like Fujii had already shogi engine. I think it made big difference in their strength. About the volume, thanks for telling me. I was said twice in this video😅 I will improve this point in future videos as possible as I can. Actually I have changed its volume twice after recorded always. I can change it to 300% or more but it could loud noise. So I think I have to speak with louder voices.

Thank you for this, interestsing to hear people's origins. You said it is late to be learning the rules of shogi in junior high, is there no professional player who started around that time? If so, I'm screwed 😅

Thank you for asking! When you want to be a professional player, you need to enter Shoreikai and have to pass its leagues of all grades by 26 years old. It would take more than 10 years typically. And if you want to enter the Shoreikai, your grade has to be more than 3, 4 Dan in amateur. So I’m not sure I could enter it or not even I spent more than 20 years😅

Nice! I have never tried Kifus of more than 100 years ago. It must be interesting. I heard Kimura Meijin already played latest formation of Kakugawari with subway rook. It is really amazing as human to find best way without shogi engine.
