here is how the scam works (btw it still works) someone tells you to join a server for one reason or another everything in the server is suposedly locked until you verify so you click verfiy behind the scenes the bot is loading up one of these discord login pages and pulls the qr code from it and shows it to the victim telling them to scan it to verify when the qr code is then scanned the bot and that login page the bot generated behind the scenes now has access to you account and then it logs into your account on the page behind the scenes and when it does all the information is all readable. so then all the bot has to do is store that plainly readable information like your username password and token and sends it to the scammer's webhook. yes someone can take your accound with a qr code dont be dumb

my friend scanned such code to verifiy on some sussy server. then all of the people got a link to such server. idk if he changed the password afterwards but after a week he send me another server . but he said that he did absolutely nothing. so maby it is more worrying that it seems on first or maybe even second glance

Ok... so I got sent an invite today joined the server said verify...there was a qr code. Got hacked. Lol

ok so go explain it straight scanning the qr code is letting the bot into your account now very gullible people think oh i’ll just verify again they scan over and over again that’s multiple bots in your account and every 15minuted they have you account send the qr code to another person the bot is not breathing change your passcode and one of you will be logged out to be clear this is a bot a bot doesn’t know how to kick you out so just change your pass now the main problem is as soon as you activate the qr code the bot gets in and deletes every single dm you have so change your pack and new backup passes for 2fa to break the bot if your lazy delete all your dms before the bot does the most used hack is they invite you to a server with a message like watch general ;) once you join you will have to verify once you verify the bot gets it and adds other people now this means you can still use your account but all of your dms will be delete and every hour you will send a invite to the account with the qr code causing the same thing over and over again say you have a rare badge like the cheese they will sell you account very quickly

I just received a message from my friend saying I should join a group, then I joined it. after that it saids, "bot verification" with a qr code, asking me to login using the qr code they provided with my mobile discord app. I was thinking of scanning it at the first second, then I quickly realised that by signing in to complete the anti bot verification process, the device logged in that is bonded with the qr code they provided will gain access to my entire discord account. soon I link it with me receiving lots of the same messages sending from the same person into different groups that ain't even active. so I left the group and did not complete the "verification". unfortunately, I could not report this group to discord as scam/fraud as they simply does not allow me to. regardless of that is going on, just pay extra attention to server link in discord in which, you are required to complete the anti-bot verification using discord app login.

This method is practically obsolete now since majority of the websites you browse today have moved over to HTTPS. The ones that aren't are flagged by your browser as insecure. However, its still great to understand the theory behind it.
