The experiment has for all intents and purposes failed, and the biggest nail in the coffin is the Adirondack Northway. It's an abomination to the spirit of the park and the Eastern Adirondacks is lost. Wilderness cannot be conveniently accessed and remain wilderness...

It was a balmy (for winter) 20 degrees. But this was an easy one since I could set up the camera, watch awhile, and then retreat to the wood stove in our house before going out again later to wrap up the 2 hour shoot. lol

Too much private land ownership in the Adirondacks. The entire park is under ownership of some form! Should be declared a National Park! Not sure that would make difference but the current arrangement worries me! Nothing but a big money grab! Let the arguments begin!!
@bdavis127585 жыл бұрын
Richard Farmer it’s getting like that all around.... I don’t mind paying to get in or paying a little each night I stay because that pays to keep things in good working order like roads and cabins and such. BUT all over NY, lakes and other great places to fish and hunt and camp are now being owned and controlled but not only the state but regular civilian ownership which then they either charge an arm and a leg OR they ban any recreation.... I grew up hunting and fishing for food on my table and would love to teach my newborn son one day but I cannot. In all honesty, it is all about the money and now people know they can make a few bucks letting someone fish hunt or camp so they’re going to do it.

I know your post is from 4 years ago, but the question of nationalizing the Adirondacks is still a relevant question. Personally, I wouldn't trust the federal law with squat. They tend to ruin everything they touch lately. However, Albany can mess things up without trying. It's is up to the local residents of the Adirondack region to make sure that the Adirondacks are preserved the way they are so future generations can experience the beauty and charm that is like no other. Growing up in the area, I have memories that I will always cherish.
@justasimpleguy72112 ай бұрын
@@flyonwall360 Yeah, well that isn't working either and I'll site the local from the Long Lake area who, out of spite, introduced bass into Little Tupper Lake because when ownership transferred from the Whitneys to the state he wanted motorized craft allowed and the state wanted to keep it as pristine as possible. One man's act, a native Adirondacker mind you, wiped out a heritage native brook trout strain from the biggest and one of the best trout waters in the 'Dacks.

Hi Bill, Good to meet you Wed. evening! I have lots of thoughts for things to post and need a bit more time to get things prepped for online. I'll try to add more this winter - after the holiday rush and getting workshops online! I put in about 4 days time prepping new time lapse for the Wed program. I need to figure how to best pull them together to post online. Thanks!
