The Milky Way, Big and Little Dipper, and soft band of northern lights along the horizon above the High Peaks. I went out to photograph Saturday night 8/31/19 because of the aurora forecast combined with clear skies and lack of moonlight. I had a wonderful evening under the stars, and found I had some photos with subtle northern lights once I was editing at home, but they were so subtle that I never realized I was seeing them while I was there. It's interesting to see how much air traffic there is during a time lapse - along with the Montreal light pollution on the northern horizon. It's amazing how much light there is glowing on the horizon from a metropolis that's 100 miles north of where I was on Saturday evening 8/31/19. Taken (with permission) from a couple of viewpoints on the Elk Lake Lodge Preserve. Note the subtle aurora to the left of Montreal's light pollution that starts at about 20 secs.
