This feels like an excellent blend between the old KZbin and the new KZbin content. Amazing work, the car isn't worth in cash, the effort you put in.

what did you do for the fuel tank? mine was sitting so long it was a mess in there and i cant find one in good condition anywhere😂😂 congrats on the build tho definitely motivated me to get up and continue working on mine👍
@GilesVesseyКүн бұрын
@@juanmaldonado3266 Thanks man! I put a bunch of different things through there in experimentation since I've never done it before, the tank I cleaned out actually was a good used tank that came with the sale of the car, the original was rusted right out. That being said the new tank still had some rust and random crap inside of it and needed to be cleaned - I tried a bunch of things that didn't work well, but if I were to do it again I would start off by shaking it around with water and dish soap, then blasting it out with the pressure washer until only clean water comes out. Then to strip the rust, fill the tank with at least a gallon or two of evapo rust and let it sit for at least a few days. It's not cheap but it does a great job and can be reclaimed and reused after for more rust removal projects. Then as soon as you've reclaimed the evapo rust and given the tank a final clean, put some premixed gas in there and shake it around to coat the walls with some oil so it doesn't flash rust on you

I'm now building my 12a and also want to go for a sniper. I do have some questions I hope you can help me out. - What is the gas mileage? (i know it's bad but just curious) - should I help if convert the sniper to a staged system because of the overload of air at the low rpm?
@GilesVessey6 күн бұрын
@@nielskapteijns1947 I haven't done a proper mpg calculation since I got it running properly, but it's in the 16 to 19mpg combined area. Not horrific. It is indeed touchy at the very beginning of the pedal's travel, but totally driveable. This year I'm probably going to experiment with extending the throttle bracket out further to make it less aggressive. Doing a progressive throttle linkage would help improve this as well. In my opinion, you should just run the primaries and secondaries at the same time and see how you like it and go from there! On the other hand, if you know it's going to annoy you, planning to start with the progressive linkage isn't a bad idea - just slightly more stuff to configure in the software.

Wow hats off to you. Working in the snow. Incredible dedication to bring it back from the brink. My very 1st car was the very same model so i hold an incredible place in my heart for the rx7. Sadly they were built with poor quality rustproofing and most of them rotted away where I am in the uk. Would love to drive one again and bring the memories of being 18 years old flooding back.
