Hi, I’d like to ask if you’re using the China ROM and how you set up Google services. I’m currently using the Neo 9, which has Google Play Store available in the V-Store. I downloaded the Google apps from there, but my location and email don’t load properly in Maps and Gmail. Other map apps seem to be work normally. I also bought another phone with a China ROM, the Redmi K70, and it didn’t have this issue.
@axhng4 күн бұрын
pretty much the same. install play store from v-store, it will prompt to turn on basic google services and that's about it. for maps perhaps can double check if permissions for location has been granted and turned on? I rmb if you turn off everything they list out during initial setup location will be off by default. gmail wise if you meant not getting immediate notifications immediately, will need to make sure autostart is enabled for the app in permissions, and need to lock the app in recent apps (pull down on the app in recent apps and don't clear it away). vivo tends to be a bit more aggressive at killing background apps compared to hyperos and colorOS in my experience. i didn't really do any other setup apart from these things
@SchoolRumbleRawksКүн бұрын
@@axhng I’ve granted full location access to Maps, but the map won’t load-it only shows me as a blue circle on a grey map. For Gmail, the issue isn’t with notifications; instead, the "Getting your messages" status keeps loading endlessly. I’ve also tried downloading and installing the Google Services Framework from APKPure, but it didn’t resolve the issue. The phone is a iQOO Neo 9. Edit: I just tried Google Maps Go, and it seems to retrieve the location through my default browser, which works.

Im picking between Neo 10 and K80. I only picked Neo 10 because i wanted to try OxygenOS since both Neo 10 and K80 are quite similar when it comes to every aspect.. Do you think i made a good decision?
@axhng7 күн бұрын
I've not tried K80 and HyperOS so can't say for sure, but from comparisons I've seen on bilibili, people do still feel that OriginOS is more stable and smoother still. Personally i feel like they really are quite similar overall in terms of value, and both seems like good value. Neo10 seems more focused on gaming, whereas K80 is more more of a general all-rounder, but loses a bit in terms of gaming-related features. K80 has a bit more hardware features, but in return is also more expensive. so i feel like both are probably good options in this price range. Anyway in the end after trying a bunch of SD8Gen3 phones, most of them do tend to provide a similar enough experience. so just going with what you are more curious about is probably fine. like for me i decided to try neo10 over k80 because it was cheaper, i prioritise gaming performance more, and i like the design more.😅though because my eyes are just too sensitive to PWM dimming, it ended up not working out.

@axhng12 күн бұрын
the banking apps that i've tried do work. uob, posb/dbs, gxs. singpass works fine too. the one bug i forgot to mention that i mentioned in the neo10 video i did later, is that for posb/dbs app, the app will always force close the first time if it's a fresh launch (not in RAM anymore). the 2nd launch (or if the app is still in RAM/recent apps) it will be normal though. functionality wise no issue in the app. there is also something i think posb/dbs implemented recently i think where their cards can't be added to google pay for some reason (might need to call in or something). i think this is happening to other CN ROMs too, not just vivo/iQOO. i usually add UOB card and only tested posb/dbs later so didn't catch that issue in time.

@axhng21 күн бұрын
thanks! i think it would depend on the game since streaming through the phone will likely tax the processor more too. not sure how much though since i don't steam. but for heavier games, probably will need to drop the graphics quite a bit. like for Honkai star rail at max graphics, even when the phone is cool there are areas where the game will still drop framerates simply because it's too much for processor. same goes for like certain areas in zenless zone zero. my guess is that some of these games are just too demanding on single core performance, which isn't amazing last gen processors. it's only with SD8 Elite that the single core performance massively improved. i think at this price range, it's probably one of the only option that has bypass charging, which will be very helpful for live streaming... but i think probably just wait and see what OnePlus Ace5 offers first? i think it should be annoucing in China soon.

I play games and casual photography and I prefer smooth 4k 60fps video recording since My Neo 3 can shoot up to 4k 60fps but the stabilization is suck but in 1080p 60 fps it gives some stabilization and it work well for me. @axhng23 күн бұрын
@@Donaldbark hmm. I'm actually not sure if i would consider it to be light, but having used originOS 4 on the Neo9S Pro as my main phone for 4-5 months, it is smooth and generally don't have any major bugs. However, there were some minor compatibility issue with some global apps, like how for some apps like adidas runtastic, it is impossible get a persistent lockscreen notification to show my current progress when jogging, when i'm using the app on OriginOS. or in telegram, the text input field would just become transparent once in a while and i would need to restart the app. that is easily fixable by switching to telegram x, but it is still some inconvenience and not sure if other global apps might have other issues or not. Afterall, originOS was made only for the Chinese market, which means that sometimes random things like this might occur. same goes for realme UI too of course for their Chinese variant, it's just that I've not tried that before so can't comment much on it. but having used CN colorOS and HyperOS too, I do feel like those 2 are a little more accommodating for the global market, since unlike iqoo/vivo, their global rom probably shares more things with their CN rom. the cameras would probably be an upgrade over the GT Neo 3 for both of them, just because they're newer, but I wouldn't expect too much though since both are not really focused on photography. they might put in decent camera sensors, but they definitely will not give their mid range devices the same processing capabilities as their more expensive phones, or phones from their sister brands, like OPPO, and vivo. but not sure if realme UI is like ColorOS or not and doesn't have a manual video mode, but i do appreciate how originOS has that built into the camera app. software update i think should be fine for the Chinese side seeing that even the Z9 turbo+ i tried was already updated to originOS 5. if you visit their chinese OriginOS site, they have a planned timeline for their other devices too and i see even the Neo6 on that list. just that it'll take longer before getting updated. but yeah, not to put a damper or what not, but while I do really like OriginOS (you can tell by how many iQOO phones I've been trying), I feel like some fans of the OS has been hyping it a bit too much and ignoring some of the potential downsides. it'll work for some ppl, but might not for others. 😅 Personally though, I would just wait another week to see what OnePlus Ace 5 offer first.

at least according to the info on their website. they call the feature 直驱供电, which translates to "direct-drive power supply". i don't have the equipment or know how to actually test this though. like take out the back cover, connect the battery to a power monitoring equipment while it's is plugged in with this feature turned on (don't even know if this is even possible) to see how how much power is going to the battery and how much to the SOC. but in my usage at least, the phone does feel like it's not heating up as much compared to when the feature is off and the battery is being charged. though i personally suspect that some power is probably still going to the battery since when you turn on this feature, they explainer they gave is "The charger prioritizes powering the device, significantly reducing the charging speed of the battery to prevent heating during charging."

@@home.we46 yeah. that telephoto with macro capabilities is something i really like on xiaomi devices. but the lack of display out really sucks to me since being able to use display out literally lets me enjoy games in a new way on the iQOO 13 when I was using it. and 8 Elite can absolutely handle that, whereas on 8gen3, the processor will still heat up too much and will still have more stutters when I max out graphics settings. If i'm going to pay more for the 8 Elite chip, i want to be able to really make use of it whenever i feel like it. i know some folks will want LTPO for perhaps Always On Display features, but personally i don't really care if it's LTPS or LTPO. the battery savings it would bring is usually insignificant and the thing that actually affects overall battery life is just battery capacity. Not to mention that for those sensitive to refresh rate changes, LTPO if poorly implemented might actually make the phone feel less smooth if the way they ramp up or ramp down the refresh rate isn't tuned well. personally... iQOO 13 if it didn't have the QC issue with the body clicking on my unit, and didn't cause me eyestrain, would have been my ideal flagship killer, since I don't care as much about camera performance. but for now, aside keeping an eye out for OnePlus 13 and Xiaomi 15's global release, i'm keeping an eye out for the OnePlus Ace 5 Pro which should be launched next week in China. hopefully it has USB 3.2 with display out (though i think it's highly likely it might not). 🤣

@@ijlibg7061 yeah. the 9s pro+ has the same chip and ultrasonic sensor too, but was just saying in general that most phones with Sd8gen3 and d9300+ are really similar in the end. if there are small differences, it's mostly to how each brand "tunes" their performance. and between those two, the Neo10 has an edge because of the reasons i mentioned earlier. charging bypass, better quality screen, and well, slightly larger battery too. if the pricing are similar, i think there's no reason to go for the neo9 series anymore considering the screen isn't that good for eye strain. in regards to benchmark scores, i wouldn't care about that since even for the same exact phone model, different reviewers might get different results depending on a multitude of factors. like their test location temperature, whether the phones are being cooled (and how, since i know some will even just put the entire phone into a freezer to get higher benchmarks scores), and every chip might have variance too. some higher bin chips might perform better, and some lower bin ones might perform a bit worse. pretty much like CPU chips. but in the end, in actual gaming where the chips won't be pushed as hard as in benchmarks, those minor variations will not matter as much, which is why i mentioned like there isn't a huge difference. well, as long as the conditions are similar since a SD8Gen3 in a smaller phone with poorer heat dissipation won't perform as well.

yeah. i think part of it is that for the frame generation to work well with low latency on a phone, it might need to be specifically optimised since thermals is a very big concern on phones... but then in vivo's case, their method of require games to be whitelisted means that even games that should have been optimised for frame generation already like Genshin, is being restricted to the Chinese client, and not working for the global client. quite disappointing to see. or perhaps it's intentional so that ppl will buy their global versions instead of importing the cheaper Chinese variants. 🤣

can i change cables of these kz-edc TIA
@axhng25 күн бұрын
the cables are fixed and can't be changed. well, it might be possible to DIY, but then for IEMs at this price, not worth the effort imo.

Can I directly connect with usb-c monitor using usb-c cable?
@axhng27 күн бұрын
i didn't try that since i don't have a USB-C monitor and they don't specifically list DP Alt Mode support, but my guess is that it does? the adapter i'm using i believe is using DP Alt Mode to connect to the display based on the product listing. 😅

Which controller you use for that mouse cursor on device while playing on moniter
@axhng28 күн бұрын
i think you meant in Wuthering Waves right? that's just how their UI interacts with controller actually. they have that sort of cursor-like indicator when selecting stuff.
