I have ace2pro but problem is that I can't get color os 14 update on it. Why??
@axhng7 ай бұрын
it's still on ColorOS 13 for yours? i thought they rolled our ColorOS 14 for Ace 2 Pro late last year. But if your phone can't get the OTA for some reason even though the bootloader is untouched and not rooted, maybe you could try to use the "local upgrade" option and downloading the ROM from online. No idea where to get official ROM though, perhaps XDA or gotta rely on Chinese sites.

Does colorOS perform well like OxygenOS
@axhng7 ай бұрын
i think the current version of ColorOS does at least. from what I know OPPO did a lot of optimisations since ColorOS 14 first launched, and it's a lot better than it was back then. I don't have a phone i can directly compare to right now, but i think it feels more responsive and smoother than when I was using OP11 last year. the OP11 might be better now of course, but i don't have it around anymore, so can't really compare. I do have the OnePlus 10R still on the latest oxygenOS and it doesn't perform as well as CN ColorOS on the Ace 3, but that could be because of the newer hardware too.

@@esrafelsafar0584 good will be the smoothness and responsiveness of colorOS nowadays. then it has good amount of customisation in the UI too, and for CN colorOS, it has a lot more controls over app permissions compared to global ROM, plus the ability to uninstall most of the apps I don't want. for the downsides, other than the usual things for all CN ROM, like no Android auto, nearby share, google location history, might have to manually tweak the app settings to allow apps you want immediate notifications from to run in the background. If not sometimes the phone can be a bit more aggressive at killing apps. Another thing is perhaps auto-brightness being not that good, like it's often a little too bright or a little too dim, but the OS doesn't seem to learn user preferences. So I do find myself needing to adjust the brightness from time to time. but this one is a OPPO/OnePlus issue which is the same no matter colorOS or OxygenOS. there are probably a few other minor things to me, but then nothing that I would consider a deal breaker. but your mileage may vary though since everyone got different preference. 😅

I want to buy this phone in Malaysia...if i don't flash from color os to oxygen os...what cons that i will get?
@axhng7 ай бұрын
like most other chinese phones, no android auto, nearbyshare won't work, google location history won't work too. then some smaller stuff will be the need to uninstall and turn off more things, which makes for a longer setup process. but it has other advantages too. like CN rom usually have more features, lets you uninstall more things from the phone, it has way more control over app permissions, gets updated faster, and if you use apps like bilibili, no need to sideload and you can just install from their App Market and update from there too. in the Ace3's case, i recommend doing more research about the conversion to OxygenOS because last I read on XDA, the process isn't perfect and might be quite troublesome. if you really want oxygenOS, might want to consider OP12 too which might not be that much more expensive these days and I think can be converted to oxygenOS more easily. at least here in singapore, on 6/6 sales on lazada, the prices were really low.

@@mohamadtahir5178 I've been using CN ColorOS and it's been fine with even local government and banking apps in Singapore. though not sure about MY side though. I think a lot of ppl just prefer using something with full google services? it is easier in a sense since no need to install playstore and all the google stuff like nearby share, location history will work. the main thing to look out for is just to make sure from the seller that the phone is region unlocked. Most importers will probably know about this since they've been doing this nonsense region lock thing since Ace 2.

@@yudakeling3525 thanks for the info. perhaps they don't focus as much on their lower end devices for CN ColorOS. something to note for sure. i used the ace3 with CN ColorOS for a few months before i switched to another phone and it did get 1 or 2 OTA updates in that period. not sure how it is in the long run. Though at least for their global version it should be better. my old OnePlus 10R running oxygenOS gets pretty regular security patches still, with the most recent being the august patch iirc.
The OnePlus Ace 3 on Giztop claims to have "full Google Mobile Service and Google Play store." Is this real? Is it supposed that having full Google Mobile Service would Google location history and other things work?
@axhng6 ай бұрын
i have no idea. i went to see the listing on giztop and it says, "This phone is a Chinese edition, pre-installed global ColorOS with full Google Mobile Service and Google Play store, OTA updating supported." which doesn't make much sense since there is no "global ColorOS" for OnePlus phones, just OxygenOS. Maybe they meant OxygenOS, but then I'm not sure if that will work as perfectly since from XDA, I've seen that conversion from CN ColorOS to global OxygenOS from the 12R has certain issues. Of course maybe they have special or secret tools/methods to do a proper full conversion with no issues with OTA / network. Probably better to just clarify with them, or hopefully someone who has bought from them can help out here.

@@axhng Thanks for the information. I sent them an email asking about it. Some questions since you have the device: Widevine level is L1? Is SafeyNet Passed on this device? I assume you have the 100% Stock CN ROM (which only has Chinese and English?)

@@dionnyvillalona6978 yeah, i have the stock CN ROM. it's L1 and safetynet passed too, so no issues with google pay or banking apps. though i didn't try netflix, amazon prime, etc to see if the device has been whitelisted or not though since I don't use those services. Language wise I can't recall exactly since I don't have the device with me anymore, but i recall it having more than just EN and CN though.

@@axhng I asked them the same question through the online chat (which was offline at the time) and via email. This I asked: "I want to buy the ONEPLUS ACE 3 but I have a question regarding Google Services that claims to be the full version. With the ROM that you install, can I run Google Auto, WearOS, Google Location History and other things that usually fail in Chinese ROMs?". Via email they told me: "we checked this phone only available with original china rom version, which installed with google play store, there is no global rom for this phone." And chat response: "The ONEPLUS ACE 3 supports Google Auto, WearOS, and Google Location History.". The chat response was just a copy-paste of what I said. The answers don't seem very reliable to me.
@axhng6 ай бұрын
@@dionnyvillalona6978 The former sounds more accurate since there are some hardware differences between OnePlus Ace 3 and OnePlus 12R, so the ROM from 12R likely still wouldn't work properly without some hassle. Last i read on XDA it was something like losing network signal unless you flash something onto the phone, and i think after every OTA update you'll have to do the same too. it just feels too much like a patchwork and a bit iffy to me. If all those google specific features are important to you, it's probably a better idea to consider the OP12 instead, which I think is able to do a more seamless conversion from ColorOS to OxygenOS.

Hi Alex, do you have any problem with notification especially with Whatapp when you using OnePlus with color os china rom ? Like notification got delay or no notification at all when you left phone locked/screen off ?
@axhng5 ай бұрын
hi there, for notifications, have to change app settings to allow them to run in the background, etc. if not there will be delay or even no notification until reopen the app. It's the same for all the CN phones I've tested so far though. but once changed, then notifications would come in as per usual.

hmm. that's strange. Now i'm not so sure since I haven't encountered too much delay after changing the settings on these OS. maybe there are other settings that might affect, like i rmb one them has a settings to "optimise" battery usage at night while sleeping and with that on, those apps might still get "optimised" and messages will only come in in the morning when I wake the phone. after that during the day it would be fine. hmm. perhaps it might be worth considering going for CN OP12 instead? that model has gone down in price a ton and that model can be converted to OxygenOS without major issues unlike the Ace3.
