Supporters proved that Mo news is good news during the launch event for this year’s Movember campaign. Moustache-growing campaign Movember, which raises money and awareness for Prostate Cancer UK, is being embraced by the whole of Market Harborough this year with the town even changing its name to Mo’ket Harborough for the whole of this month. It is the first time in the UK’s history and only the second time in the world that an entire town is teaming up to raise money for the cause. The launch on Saturday, started with fun and photograph opportunities at one of the key sponsors, Mo’Ket Harborough Building Society, on The Square. The society has put up a new sign on the front of its town branch to reflect the change of name for the month of November. The focus then switched to the district council’s Symington Building office for two hours of moustache-inspired fun from 10am. Among the playful items were pizza, beer, shortbread, cookies, gin, port, jewellery and a town sign - all adorned with moustaches of course. Sarah Blackler, from the Mo’Ket Harborough organising committee, said: “We were totally amazed by the reaction of people and local businesses and their support to the Mo’ket Harborough idea last weekend. “Saturday was made better by the weather and we had a steady turn out at the council offices. “People came in to see what and who we were about, trying samples from Emerson and Wests, Just So Italian, The Langton Brewery and Two Birds Gin, and generally just chatting about health issues and fundraising ideas.” Then on the Saturday night, the town’s newly-opened Beerhouse, off St Mary’s Road, staged an acoustic gig featuring former Inspiral Carpets frontman Tom Hingley. “It was just brilliant. “Hopefully the first of many fundraising events and it raised £300 for Movember,” added Sarah. Harborough District Council leader Cllr Blake Pain said: “This campaign has brought the whole community together, including local businesses, and not only puts Market Harborough on the map, it also raises awareness of men’s health issues. “It was great that the launch event was held in the new-look council chamber. “We’re delighted to be involved in this fun, yet hugely worthwhile cause.”

This should not be happening if the person(s) who designed the layout of the Market Hall had engaged their brain. It was obvious that the raised plinths made it impossible for the hall to be used for any other purpose. This was mentioned at the time and IGNORED!

Dear Gavin, this video is fantastic. The decide to shave your wonderful hair and beard was certainly not easy. But this decide was very good - the shaved head is a dream and you looks very well with it - you are a beautiful man with a great aura.
