Harborough Railway Station Work Started 11.03.18

Train passengers travelling on Sundays in March will need to use bus replacement services if they want to travel to or from Market Harborough.
Network Rail is in the middle of a programme to reduce journey times and part of that will involve straightening out a kink in the line at Market Harborough.
Over the next four Sundays from March 4 until March 25, no trains will be stopping at the station.
The straighter stretch of track is not expected to open until December 2019.
Other upcoming work includes improving access at the station by installing a new footbridge with lifts and extending platforms, which will reduce the stepping distance onto trains.
Rob McIntosh of Network Rail said: “We’re delighted to have moved onto the next phase of this major upgrade, which will see the track straightened.
“This work will mean trains can travel at faster speeds along this section, resulting in a reduced journey time for passengers and we hope the improvements will help to drive economic growth in the East Midlands.
