Happy New Year's Runaways! Cody and team, I watch/listen to you all religiously. It really warmed my heart when you mentioned me as one of the reasons y'all continue to attend armories. I'm also encouraged to play more as well this year!! -M

I submitted the zen v victor vod and played another victor again. This time, I learnt from the pain and didn’t snap block with my fridge. Managed to resolve a cosmic and closed it out in the end just grinding the victor down😅

Boltyn card idea: 1 cost 3 power yellow light warrior attack action card with go again, text as additional cost charge a light card. If you did draw a card and create a quicken token. What could go wrong?

I agree with Dan, major placements should be on of the major deciding factor in POY. The majors should account for at least half of the total points available for the year

LL is looking… boring. I get the philosophy of not banning cards and I agree. But acknowledge that starvo is a problem. Restricting element cards just results in collateral damage to other decks that could be viable. I guess a possible solution could be to errata starvo so his ability is dominate OR go again. Getting hit in the face with a disruptive attack and then winter wail with a break point and a FB is just messed up

honestly best episode of the pod yet. the ending bit about when game plans conflict with game theory and or value theory was pure gold. amazing question and very well answered. i look forward to this pod every week

Lucas was upset about the Verdance card but I feel like this and others were meant for Rosetta but they couldn’t balance it in time. This is how I imagined Verdance from the start. Gain life every turn, ping enemy, and then hit with a damage card. The way the deck is played now I am not sure what he was referring to because I haven’t reviewed deck lists. Probably the gain 30 life from pots and such and then the card that deals damage equal to health gained. I love the card but there should be more. Dang! Now they are going after Ira. I am building Ira to get away from Victor for better matchups. Not sure who will be viable but I am testing decks on Talishar to see who would be good to build. Any thoughts on decks not about to LL?

I will be very sad to see Viserai go. I have played him since I started playing flesh and blood. He's been the only hero. I would consider a Mane that I've ever played, but I'll admit it's time for the arknight to rest in his tomb. He can go out on a Victory now after Rosetta being legitimately powerful once again

lmao i didn't start playing it until kayo in HVY, it's 2024 in my book. i wanted to say face purgatory, but i just hate the variance of the opponent playing into the purg super hard but drawing a hand of all 1 card type so i can't punish, that's why i like bag more. my fav 2024 card then is probably blast to oblivion, i like the concept of that card existing in the game where it can either abuse "leaves play" triggers on your side, or disrupt your opponent's gameplan, but you're forced to deck build around it to extract more than vanilla value

To the discussion about losing at around minute 46; I’m completely fine losing if I learn something or if my opponent is fun to play against but as much as I try to keep my cool, it’s never fun to lose when you draw multiple non-functional hands and your opponent has the nuts or even worse when your opponent is unpleasant even while winning. I’ve had opponents talk crap about my plays, while beating me and I’ve had opponents get visibly angry that I drew a 2nd Bloodrush even when they’re way ahead. I guess my point is that being a good opponent in both victory and defeat is important and is something that will grow the game which is good for all of us.

I really wish that traverse was "When this defends together with a blue card, do the thing" making it so it trades a blue not just goes up a card would be a large step in reigning in it's power

Still curious why Cody thinks CYB enigma winning worlds somehow justifies his comments in previous videos. I’ll concede that many people underestimated the power level of CYB and the problems it causes with tournament timing. But this was only part of, if at all, Cody’s resentment of CYB. The main cause of negativity towards Cody in previous videos is stemmed from the entitled takes of “CYB decks randomly ending people’s tournaments” and that CYB removes deck building decision making, replacing it with “to be lucky or not lucky”. I guess the deck winning worlds and the subsequent banning makes it easier for Cody to retroactively change the focus of his arguments?
@RunawaysPodАй бұрын
Or maybe it won worlds because of the issues I brought up in tournament play. Find slots for the counter or lose, just be lucky enough not to play into it or for the CYB players to run into less counters. Both of those things are accurate to how the tournament played out. There are interviews with the top 8 players just saying I was hoping to just not face CYB so I don't have tech. Part of the issue with the card. Hamilton ran CYB because he said he thought he was less likely to run into counters for CYB than to run into players that had Warmongers so he didn't play a deck weak to warmongers.

Can we get Daniel off the pod? Typical aggro player mindset and comments - Zen / Fai / 10x Go Again for tons of damage = good Iyslander = not good. It's not even entertaining hearing this for the XXth time.
