Let me start this message by saying Dr Brian Cole was recommended by three other orthopedic surgeons. He is rated one of the best in the nation for cartilage restoration. I can thoroughly say that I am disappointed in him and his office . I was injured in March of 2023. I was a deputy that was injured in the line of duty and already received one surgery. I was then fired because I could not do my job anymore. The county stopped all pay and benefits and the workmans comp insurance denied everything. The first surgery was not enough and these three separate independent orthopedic surgeons agreed and recommended a cartilage graph/restoration. All three recommended Dr. Cole I tried on multiple occasions to schedule an appointment with his office and was met with no understanding or sympathy. I called multiple times to get a straight answer. Finally after multiple calls and inquiring I only got a straight answer out of them when I told them I had a lawyer. Their answer was that they would not see me because my workmans comp case is under litigation. They would not even see me with my own insurance. They kept saying it was “policy”. What policy restricts medical care to anyone? Isn't it an ethical question to be asking why would you do this? I am severely disappointed in my treatment and what it went through to get an answer. I should never have to bring up a lawyer to get an answer. Even after explaining that I was a peace officer and was hurt in the line of duty, I was shrugged off like a peddler on the street. I am just trying to get my life back, and not spend it looking out a window. If this is how they treat anyone that is in a fight to get their life back, anyone in uniform, or just in general, is disappointing. The workmans comp litigation can take 2 years. I am not waiting 2 years to get my life back. Being denied medical treatment and the poor treatment by staff is just not right.

If I understand, for a large defect >2cm² OATS with "plugs" (Mukai) would be more appropriate than AutoGraft because I guess there would not be enough cartilage taken from cleaning the "walls". But what if one has several <2cm² defects, with total sufrace >2 or even 4cm²: Would AutoGraft procedure be okay? Thank you

My doctor estimated that i will remain with roughly 30% left medial meniscus. I will not ubdergo transplant unless i will feel pain after returning to sports. I am 33 yesrs old and i am playing soccer.

Dr Cole, Diagnosed w/a bruised coccyx at the age of four, which was actually an S4/S5 upper motor neuron lesion (the first of several along my spine), the resulting spasticity absolutely wrecked my body & every subsequent injury introduced so much spasmed tissue that as an adult I had to be medically retired from the military because I was so broken. Then, a tib/fib break saw me "shrink my world" (your STEM Talk w/TheIHMC) down to where I couldn't do anything, at all, ever. I also couldn't afford physical therapy so I started teaching/treating myself. Basically, I learned to do intense tendon manipulation to release ANY/ALL spasticity by weaponizing reciprocal/autogenic inhibition + overriding pain's descending pathway which locked in the spasmed tissue at the time of the injury. The surgery following my tib/fib break was absolutely necessary, but the foot reconstruction to correct my pes planus that resulted in a destroyed marriage & lost career wasn't, and I'm sure a lot more people get hardware unnecessarily installed that won't solve their soft tissue problems, but will actually just make them worse. How do I make what I know/can do common knowledge so that people have a better understanding of their bodies & the ability to heal themselves? None of my pitfalls would've happened if I had a better understanding, but I wouldn't have a better understanding if those pitfalls didn't occur; c'est la vie, non?

My 12 year old daughter was diagnosed with a 1x1.5cm OCD on her right knee 8 weeks ago. It’s considered a classic site on the lateral side of her medial femoral condyle. She is a very competitive athlete. She had just made a national level soccer team. She was a starter and considered to be the best in our state. She is a winger and known for her speed. We’ve been told she will never be as fast again. We’ve been told she will deal with this repetitively coming back. We’ve been told she will eventually deal with it in the other knee. We are devastated. She is 12yo with open growth plates. 5’7” and 125 lbs of solid muscle… so it’s a lot of weight on her joints. I have searched the internet for months and cannot find any success stories. NONE. I feel like everyone indirectly suggesting we give up sports because they know that the reality of an OCD diagnosis in elite athletes is not favorable. Do you know of a single female soccer player that returned?
