Super odd but it's actually pronounced like "Lakey". Been 10+ times, went during the freeze we had a few years back (10/10 was sketch) and is, despite my tens of thousands of backroad miles around the country, still one of my favorite areas. Nowhere else feels like it and nowhere else can you find a rollercoaster section and lift the front wheels on throttle over the peaks.

I left mine original and switched the 6.50 diff for a 3.36 and she runs up to 80 mph and smooth as can be. 534 superduty motor and allison 6 speed.

Search web for Reman Truck. There are a few outfits that rebuild entire commercial trucks to the point they come with a warranty. Some are pretty quick at it. Do only the work you want to do.

It was just over 300 miles so we only had to fill up one time on the way up and we filled up once on the way back to Los Angeles. But that’s just because we returned the car full.

Makes me appreciate my Nissan leaf. It simply has the speedo integrated seamlessly into the dash itself, right in front of the driver and pretty much right where a HUD should be. So the Nissan Leaf needs no HUD, because they designed the dash properly which apparently no one else bothers to do.

This is for the majority of cars that didn’t have one from the factory. Nissan had HUD in the late 80s in some of their cars. Most vehicles never had it even as an option.

There's no reason to feel guilty about enjoying a vehicle in it's historical context. That's what you're supposed to do with classic cars. What you should feel guilty about is ripping out all of the engineering and design that went into a classic car that makes it functional art from it's era.
