I have found most people an transcriptions never seem to get the little lead like melody McCurry pllays over top the chorus correct. The first time he does it in the song you can hear him rocking between the first 4 notes twice and then sliding backwards on the B string from the 5th fret to the 3rd fret then after that the nots seem to become mostly obscured in the mix. Even being able to pan doesn't really help to hear the notes better. Makes me wish i had the actual tracks so i could listen to the track that has only the guitar that plays that fill. Where can i find your tab of the song?

It's actually Michael Landau who played lead guitar on this song.

Yep. 👍 I put the following note in the full version of this video… Guitar solo to the Vixen song "Edge of a Broken Heart" as performed by guitarist Jan Kuehnemund. The song was written by Richard Marx & Fee Waybill. Note: Michael Landau did lead guitar work on this Vixen song per Discogs and the Richard Marx book, "Stories to Tell."

There are so many good overdrive pedals for this type of sound and to combine with your other effects. I had the Revv purple overdrive pedal that I liked a lot. Anything that is mid to high gain out there will do the trick, or you can stack a couple of drive pedals together in your signal chain

I once saw a 1 pickup Gibson SGX and fell in love with it right away, but it wasn't a dud. Swapped out the humbucker for a JB and lost it in pawn. 😭 The damn thing was awesome and played itself.

I too am a FAN of Landau's sweet sounds. Seems I have patterned my solo style to his or I think it's because this is how I express the colors and the emotions a song makes me feel, thus I'll play melodious haunting solos over technical jazz wide finger playing hahaha

@@sessionsolos Yeah, I was a 'liner notes' reading guy like you, so started mentally stacking those names at the time they were playing, but I think it's just the way of the world that the man in the street largely knows what they like but not necessarily who did it, so all these guys, from Tim to Luke, Huff, Landau, McCurry, are actually critically applauded but just under-famous. And even as someone who followed it at the time, when Discogs landed it was still a surprise to see just how much stuff these guys had done, scrolling through with a "No!" and an "I can't believe it!" hehe. When I look at the list of my favourite albums it's like a playlist of these guys. I think what's interesting is that where we had to wait around to hear something turn up on the radio rotation to hear it again (I'm a mid 1960's kid) modern audiences have Spotify and discogs, and they like what they like and are happy to say so. I wouldn't be surprised if these guys are better known in 10 years than they are now. :) Long may they all continue! Loving your channel BTW, quite the flashback evening, plus I like you're interview style, it's nice man, like chat down the pub, but clearly not that at all, well thought through, structured and knowledgeable. I'm subs'd!

I don't think Marc realizes the magnitude of the impact and legacy he left. I'm so grateful he took time to share all of this with us, as I never expected to hear from him again and have always been curious. I don't blame him from walking away after the way the public reacted to grunge taking away his livelihood. I like grunge, but also 80s melodic metal, you don't have to choose. On Hungry, we are so lucky to have Marc laying down all of those amazing licks and solos using that one-of-a-kind benchmark tone. Today I felt like I got to meet one of my guitar heroes through John. The last part of the conversation is what I was waiting for. How can there only be one pro-shot live song from this group?!? I would pay good money for more live footage!

Talk about an accomplished career! Tony sure has interesting stories aplenty under his sleeve throughout the years. At this point, he should consider writing a full-on autobiography and publishing it by any means necessary. Given the gigantic pool of artists he has worked with throughout the years, I am sure said book would do extremely well across multiple corners of music fans. It certainly has the potential of having a far bigger reach than, say, the Brian Wheat memoir from a few years back. Hopefully it gets out there at some point in the foreseeable future!
