i absolutely hate the tin-can sounding snare drum with snare deactivated on this album. it's ridiculous. but i will say the only sessions i've ever walked out of is when they wanted "beats" written without a solid bass presence. nope

to be fair there was no bassline. the drums would work if the bass was emphasizing that) but instead they just clash with 2 guitars and vocals doing an obvious bass emphasis on 1 and 3 snare 2 4 line. what the guitars were doing was "stock." in 5 seconds you could do a simple "follow the guitar pattern of 1/8ths": b.sb.b.s. but i 10000% guarantee they'd say that's too boring because the guitar itself is uninspired
